Make sure you buy one thats been serviced at a mazda dealer that way you know everything has been done on time.. and if you can buy one still with some warranty.

The major services are every 40,000kms and the are upwards of $450 but all the other services should be below $280 so long as you dont have any extras needed.

They are a good car though.. and i'm not just saying so because i work for Mazda

get the mazda 3, i work for them and we barely have any probs with them. we get sum that come in and they say they get around 600 - 700ks per tank of fuel. the best ive heard is 1000ks per tank.

I can vouch for that. Very nice car. The Mazda 3 Maxx Sport never gets under 600k out of a tank, typically I get more than 660k per fill. They drive with mercedes like handling, and have enough power in the 2.0L petrol variant for driving to make it satisfying to drive without planting the accelerator. And most impressive of all they are quiet, and stay quiet after a few years too!

The car is very handy with the roof racks on full time, still very quiet, and tow bar too.

The ONLY SINGLE fault and enough to make me rant about it that I can make of this vehicle is the air conditioning,

which I have been told needs to be changed to a custom aftermarket solution for the condensor panel to make it blow hard and cold.

It is cold enough to maintain a comfortable temperature just not strong enough to do something like bring it down to sub 20 degrees celcius on a 38 degrees celcius day.

A typical summer day like that and it will sit at a constant 23-26 degrees on the freeway regardless of the a/c fan speed setting.

I need an air conditioner to go to at below 20 degrees no matter how hot it is outside. This is because after exercising running around and run back to the car, I feel sweaty and need to cool down to get rid of the humid feeling.

I guess this car was made for Japan with the expectation that you will park your car in an undercover car park during the day at the office, not for active Australians, who have to leave their car in the sun, and who after doing so and driving for 2 hours will expect to eventually cool down in the car, which will never happen in this car.

Mazda 3 is a nice car,

was almost going to buy one... then on the drive to the mazda dealership I spotted a sleek looking car on the corner of a car yard, turned out to be this quirky thing called an r33 skyline.

ended up buying the skyline (talk about a completely different world) and started my love affair with imports, was never a big fan of cars before then. Go figure

Well I just sold my Skyline after two years of ownership and really need to find a cheap to run but nice and reliable car (looking to spend between $16-$23K)

Im also buying a house soon so hence why I cant really afford to keep a fuel hungry PULP drinking car.

yeahthey will get that all the time. we always get people that ask about the a/c with them but the way 2 get them realy cold is have them set on recurculate instead of fresh. we have tested 1 car that on a 34 degree day we had the ac sitting around 7degrees.
