**update** Running Untuned With New Turbo In!...waiting On Pump/injectors/afm

Recommended Posts

well said matty, and I am learning alot so thank you all!!

So an update on the situation:

I am planning to put my turbo in this weekend, then will wait untill I get my fuel pump and chuck that in...

leaving only afm and injectors to do before the tune..will drive it safely for the mean time (2 weeksish) and then the day before chuck the injectors and afm in... then get it towed to tuner the next day... sound like a plan? any suggestions?

Adam

yeah do what you can, just make sure your not in a rush to do a certain thing ( ie; I've got to get these injectors in but I've only got 2 hours to do it...) give your self plenty of time and do research if you haven't done it before, the DIY threads have tons of very helpful info in them!

Injectors: don't lose the little black spacers that insulate the fuel rail from the intake manifold.you may be able to install the injectors many different ways but i removed the throttle body when i did mine. vasoline on the base seals and o-rings is a must!!!

AFM: is pretty straight forward, if youre going to splice the new plug into the wiring and keep the original plug so it can be returned to stock if needed, tape it inso its agianst the harness and sealed off, after soldering everything up so not to gather corrosion on the terminals when its not in use.

Turbo: make sure your coolant lines have plumbers tape on the threads( if there the screw in type rather than the hose and clamp) as its impossible to tighten them if they leak slightly once installed, and make sure you bleed the coolant correctly, hear of so many times guys get there new turbo on then take it up the street only to limp it home having blown a head gasket!!!

other than that good luck with it all

Cheers Matt.

Thanks heaps for that info mate, that will really help.

I am planning to give myself a weekend to get all the bits in and check it is all running ok.

Kind Regards,

Adam

This is the edit from the first post:

Hey guys, an update to my previous topic:

Anyway, I got too excited and decided to put the new turbo in... took about 8 hours... after a few little dramas...... which Tao(Hypergear) helped me fix at NO cost and was fantastic about the whole situation and said he would help his customers when neccessary just because he wants to make everyone happy... the car was going well...

and it now is absolutely flying... on standard turbo injectors and pump it is at about 93% at about 6,000 so I don't rev any higher... but I swear... it boosts straight away! as soon as I change gears at about 2,500-3,000 there is already about 5 psi cumming in and by 3,300-3,400 I am on 11 psi and it feels really strong with this turbo... alot more then the standard turbo at 12 psi........ My actuator wont go much higher then 13 psi because it is soft... because of the n/a compression I didn't want to go any higher in the start.. but man... this thing at 18 psi would rip :)

so I now just have the injectors/ afm/ fuel pump to put in ( and tune)... but it already feels so quick....least the biggest thing is out the way :D

what do you guys recon of the turbo?... I have never had a new or bigger turbo before... does this all sound about right? what should happen with the tune?

Kind regards

Adam

I wish they would just send their space money to me.

PM me for my bank acct details ppl. I will make better use for your money then Iridiums / Plat plugs could!!!

Iridi are a waste of money... i dunno what is with people lately... i reckon i've posted that in 10 threads in the past 4 days.

Coppers coppers coppers!!!

Less than $20 - NGK, and overall workout cheaper than Iridi/Plati etc

Soz.. off topic but have to ask... what do we get in return for giving you cash? :D

the satisfaction of having the piece of mind of knowing that you did not waste the money on spark plugs you dont need, and that i would put the money to a good cause. Me.

There's no reason why you'd have to change air flow meters on tune day. Simply select Z32 in the Air flow section of the PFC. And as everyone with any idea here has said back off your injectors and it will drive fine.

Just don't thrash it and keep an eye on knock. I did similar - backed my 550's off to 70% and selected z32 afm. No worries drove it for weeks until the tuner was available. Getting a tow truck would be a waste of money with the information available to help you on this forum.

Cheers

Haha... howdy sam! I burst out laughing when I saw your post :( I think in about 5 days I should be ready with enough of the dough to get up your area with all the goodies :P

I'll call you soon.

Thanks,

Adam
