He has to be. The reservoir is for ATTESSA, not HICAS or P/S.

One time my HICAS light showed up and I checked the front powersteering bottle and it was full. My mechanic told me to check the back (I didn't know it had one at the back). So I had a look and it was low, I topped it up and the light never came on again.

HICAS (High Capacity Actively Controlled Suspension)

Earlier HICAS versions used hydraulics to steer the rear wheels.

The hydraulic system was powered by the power steering pump and used speed sensors to determine how much and in which direction to steer the rear wheels.

ATTESA-ETS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All-Terrain Electronic Torque Split)

Its more about controlling the Torque in the AWD System.

yeah, that is what they mean, but the reservoir in the boot is for attesa. HICAS is fed only from the powersteering reservior, and thats only in the 32's, 33 onwards use an electric actuator.
