hey guys, so a friend and i remove the boost restrictor tonight and take it for a test drive. everything is fine and the extra power is great. i park the car for maybe 20 min take it out again and go for a spin, we cruise to Toronto on the highway going in and its working fine. In Toronto i barely get to see boost and the car seemed ok however once we got onto major roads i go to boost it on the highway and the car surges horribly under load. it feels like the power is strong throughout but it surges so bad i need to let off the gas or it feels the powertrain will explode. this bothers me because previously i was having problems with a lurching back and forth at cruising speeds just into boost. to make matters worse i get off the highway to come home (car works normally) until i go down my street and low and behold the torque meter on my gtr moves to 10 at low speeds and i can feel the system vibrating underneath. when i let off the gas it returns to normal. noticeably the gauges were shaking and moving when all of the surging was happening. I am not sure what the problem could be . the car is stock except for rs-r catback. i cleaned the mafs not too long ago and it didnt seem to do anything. the car is mint and should not be exhibiting this behaviour as an older higher km, beaten one may. any help would be appreciated, sorry for the long post

Trevor

Did removing the restrictor coincide with the "drive train shuddering" issue?

When you initially removed it, did your test include loading the car up properly and revving it right out?

Never the less me thinks your surging is prolly ignition breakdown. Put the restricor back in and see if its still an issue at stock boost. If issues still there, do all the normal plug checking, coil testing etc.

As for drive train, don't happen to run mismatched (unequal) wheel / tire package do you?... or a missing snow chain lol :domokun:
