ive done 20,000kms on my kkr480 and run 20psi daily

never had 2 replace it and its got no shaft play at all...

dunno why ppl say there shit 4.

but yeh like everyone said otomoto.com.au

There is more to a turbo than it spinning around for a few months

response, midrange etc... key factors

can these KKR430's be used on a stock RB25DET motor and replace the stock / original turbo...is it a hard job.....

sorry i am not trying to hijack this thread just that everyone is talking about these KKR430 turbo's....

dunno about these turbo's. Had a KKR480 on my car and 4 weeks after i bought it it spun a bearing. Just got it back up and running yesterday. Its supposedly 10 months old and it has a bit of side2side shaft play. Opted to go standard turbo on new setup cause i though the turbo's over boosting characteristics and the way it comes on boost (nothing nothing nothing... ON!) may and contributed to the motors death.

Not sure if it did cause it or not but I am skeptical cause it was quite an expensive adventure and don't want to go though it again so its still sitting on the old motor. Prolly be used for an rb30 or 25/30 motor.

yeah i know wot u mean r31nismoid, but its a cheap upgrade, sure id love to bolt on a gt30 and run 18psi and make 400rwhp and have a bit more mid range and response etc..

but im a broke ass and cant afford those finer things lol

f**k me, not another one of these threads.

Listen up everyone who keeps saying buy an HKS turbo - not everyone can afford to dump almost $3k on a turbo.

No shit the KKR isn't as good as HKS, it is also less then 1 third the cost. So what if it isn't as responsive? Why not suggest that they also chuck in a RB25/30 hybrid while changing the turbo, that would make it even more responsive! Or put in an RB26 with a 2.9l stroker while you're at it!

The KKR is a good turbo for the price. No, it's not as good as an HKS item. No one ever suggested that it was.

I'd say the HKS suggestion is coming from those that have put "alternate" turbos on their cars only to grow unhappy with them and eventually get an HKS in the long run. Sometimes it's worth not being an impatient f**k and save up the money to do something right instead of blowing money on one setup, growing tired of the poor characteristics it'll have then blowing another load of money on a well designed setup from HKS and wishing you'd done it in the first place.

Second hand HKS turbos are doing the rounds for maybe another few hundred on what the KKR setup is going to cost....and will outlast it.

Do it right the first time

Hey mate, It will pay to get one of these from otomoto as apossed to someone else. The KKR ones are pretty well balanced and tested, and they come with a water cooled core (not just oil cooled). Others may be cheeper but they arent as good quality.

Yeah, fk me not another post like yours ey? :)

1. HKS turbos are not $3000.

2. That makes them nowhere NEAR 1/3 the cost, most like 1/2.

3. The poor man pays twice. You see threads of people complaining their car is laggy, unresponsive, they cant get traction because power delivery is poor with only 230rwkw etc etc, and then look at the turbo (and other parts chosen)... its simply not going to get any better that what they have.

Yes its appropriate in performance for the price, but it pays to ensure the buyer knows what they are getting into before hand.

Not everyone researches before purchase (the 15hp ebay chip thread from last week is a perfect example of this)

nothing wrong with sub-$1000 bush bearing high flow turbo's

there was a $900 new highflow with Vg30 housing on ebay last week, looked like a slide unit

Im using slides turbo, not the same as a KKR, probably better manufactured etc, shop around turbo rebuild shops and source a higlfow for under 1k IMO

you'll need fuel pump, z32 afm, safc as a minimum for tuning
