Hi,

I'm in the process of chasing the bits I need to run Megasquirt on my 240K, which is fitted with EFI from a MR30 skyline,

What I'm after is a replacement for the throttle body or a replacement TPS to fit the mr30 throttle body,

can anyone point me in the right direction off what will fit.

Thanks

Nigel

megasquirt link for hybrid z forum

lotsa good stuff there.

3.8 V6 commodore coils can be used too

for a tps i would suggest the one on the KA24e (including the throttle body) found on front wheel drive 2.4 liter Pintara Ti & T models

there are a few guys really getting into it up here in Vic, including a well-known datto ralley workshop. will keep you posted

im currently going to run my L20et gear for the minute,

then will MAYBE attempt to use the gear from a RB30e (R31 skizza) with the L20et maps loaded, along with a hotwire afm! will then get on the dyno and wideband tune it... ( have mates that can sort this out)

BUT megasquirt is by far one of the most researched L6 aftermarket ECU's... so theres alot more support and development

hybrid z forum is a great site, the main problem I have is a lot of the stuff they talk about never came to Aus, like the L series turbo manifold, but ebay a good place to hang out..

I pondered for a long time if I should buy 280ZX turbo stuff, or go megasquirt, for me it will be easier to install MS, but the tuning side will be a pain, no one around where I live can tune MS, so this will be a big learning curve,

But I have a wideband (http://www.14point7.com/JAW/JAW.htm), so this should help

"3.8 V6 commodore coils " what coils are we talking about ?, ignition ?

at the moment I'm using the stock electronic ignition (I'm running MR30 efi), but once MS is up and running I will be installing EDIS,

and once I have all that sorted, I will install my turbo bits..

with MSv3, some guys up yere get the commo coils and run a wasted spark setup, i think that means they have 1 coil per 2 cylinders

im not 100% understanding it all yet... but the rally guys love it. i saw a subaru brumby with a 2.5 twin turbo setup on it.... went absolutly spastic when you booted it!

i will def be running it, just waiting to finish the car 1st... then once i get bored of the L20et ECU i will start looking for a 2nd hand MSv2 or something simple like that

but i want launch control, fans on at idle and braking, cooler water spray, boost control in certain gears etc... MSv3 can do all that!

    • I don’t really have any ideas how to set the timing on the CAS 😂, sounds like the top, sounds like it maybe misfiring as well as ticking,  got the box sorted 😌, must of been a air bubble on the clutch side
    • Use a 2' length of hose (that's 2 foot, not 2 inches) as a stethoscope to localise the source of the ticking. From cam covers? From exhaust or turbo manifold gasket? From injectors? From lower down in the engine? Etc. Use a timing light to set the timing. Put Redline Lightweight Shockproof in the box. It's not the very best thing for the box, but it will take a box that refuses to engage a gear with other oil, and make it engage a gear. I had to put it in when I installed the R33 box I have in my car. It would not select ANY gear when running. Smurf jizz made it work. That was >10 years ago and I still use it. I'm stuck with it now. Failing that - rebuild the box.
    • Well done Duncan. The fuel tank bulkhead lid is also in great condition (some of mine were stuffed). These are now out of production and good ones like that are becoming hard to come by.
    • Wow that's a steal, you've done well there.
