Hey guys

This noise has been coming from my gearbox area for quite some time now, and i've finally had it, ive put up with it long enough. This was recorded with my phone right at the gearstick, as I rolled at about 15km/h.

The noise seems to be directly linked to the motion of the wheels. Whilst the car is moving, the noise is making, no matter what gear (even in neutral) and no matter if the clutch is engaged or not. As the car rolls to a stop, the noise disappears, and is silent on idle.

Youll notice the noise doesnt really change in intensity as i accelerate either...

Any thoughts? Its bugging me no end!!!! Ive read up till the cows came home on input shaft bearings, thrust bearings, etc etc - what about the tailshaft? Could this explain why its linked to the movement of the car?

Cheers

Andrew

**Update, just did some testing and the noise is NOT audible when the car is reversing.....**

defiantly a bearing, have you checked your wheel bearings... not sure if it would be them,

Possibly, but would it sound like it was coming from the middle like that if it was a wheel? Hmmm...

Also, forget what I said about the noise not being there in reverse... it actually is, i just wasnt listening hard enough that time...

Definately not in the gearbox. More than likely a wheel bearing or even possibly a diff. Hard to say from the recording.

Best news ive heard in ages...

I'll get all those things checked when i get me new cluth put in next week...
