So, I'm a big fan of cars, but I don't know much about what to look for when buying one. Basically, I went and looked at a very original R32 GTS-T tonight, and there's a couple of things I wanted to ask about.

Firstly, the idle of the car wasn't steady. It was hunting up and down until it warmed up. Apparently it does this at idle after driving the car as well. The owner says there is a mechanism within the throttle body that is responsible. Says he was quoted $100-200 to fix.

Secondly, air conditioning doesn't work. He says he's enquired about this as well and the problem is apparently related to the 'clutch fuse' which keeps blowing. This meant nothing to me, that's not something I've ever heard about. He was told roughly $200-300 to fix on this one. Anyone know whether this is the real story?

The car was also running rich and in need of a tune, but other than that seemed to be running well. When I go back to inspect again, what do I need to look for in particular?

The owner was a nice guy, very upfront about car - which I liked. Potentially the car could be a great purchase if I can get these things sorted out for a reasonable price. Current or previous R32 owner's experiences are welcome!

Thanks a lot.

cars idle not being steady isnt to much of a problem. MIGHT be the idel sensor needs cleanin. maybe just a dam good serice of everything eg plugs or a coilpack that might be slowly on its way out. maybe get an electro scan on the ecu.

clutch fuse needs replacing all the time could mean an elect problem or that the mechanism that throws the clutch out to connect so it all works couldbe stuffed so that COULD mean a new pump. that is only a maybe tho. could be some other things. is the AC a big deal to you tho. if not dont worry about it
