guys,

i bought my r33 that came with this alpine cassette deck with a CD shuttle changer.

in the rears, there are some clarion speakers.. from the battery compartment, i look up and see the words clarion..

in the front, there these 2 ways speakers i would be made to believe, by some wierd korean company called axis audio. and tweeters further up.

so i bought these new 150W 3 way pioneer speakers at an audiocom sale..and it was the same size so i tried to put it in myself.

the sound wasnt all that great...and cause the guy at the shop told me that maybe cause the crossover had the tweeters set to -3db or something.

i opened the door panels and i saw a crossover ALSO by AXIS.. and then one input is the amplifier...i think thats e cable from the deck...

and then woofer...which went out to the new pioneer speakers.

and then the tweeter that ggoes to the tweeter...and then in the middle, there is a switch..that says on top, -3db flat..

and now i pushed it to the right and it sounds sharper...

what does the switch mean?

the sound was kinda dull...so the guy at the shop said was because it was designed that way before...the old system..

so i cut away the rubber from the wires on the tweeter and the woofer...and i stuck em together...so that the woofer would get the treble signals too so that the pioneer 3ways would get some tweeter sounds...

anywasys...the sound is sharper now...and but the tweeters emit a crackling now when the bass is turned up and not too loud either.

should i remove the crossovers and then plug the deck straight to the pioneer and remove the tweeters...cause the pioneers are 3 way with the tweeter thingy in the middle

or should i remove the crossover..and then remove abit of rubber coating from the wire and then route it to the tweeter too which is how come shops install tweeters?

thanks guys

ps: the deck comes with 35W x 4 amplifier...shouldnt the bass and sound with the speakers be vfaguely good?

thanks alot in advnace guys!!

=)

Wire the Pioneers straight from the deck and don't use the Axis gear at all. The reason you've had trouble getting a crisp sound is because the woofer output on the Axis crossover is low passed so no treble goes to the Pioneers. Joining the woofer and tweeter outputs sends bass notes to the tweeters and will blow them.

i have done as u recommended booster...heh...thanks alot for dat bit...

i disconnected the tweets but didnt remove em as they were screwed onto the little triangular piece right behind the rearview door mirrors...so it would leave a big hole there..plus they arent all that expensive a type so i thought just leave it there...

what i did was from the cable frm the deck,

i cut off abit of the rubber coating frm the end...

and exposed the golden wires and did the same with another wire which had the clamps on the end to attached to the speakers...and i just wired and twisted these around each other and then taped it secure...

and thats how its sposd to be done right?

doess that affect sound quality in anyway though?

and secondly, im using a alpine deck with i htink stock speakers in the rear...clarion ones...and the pioneer 3 way 150w speakers in front now..

the deck is alpine with 35 x4 built in amp...the sound kinda fuzzy when it goes higher with ihger bass....in fact...not too loud even..

is this normal or is something messed up?

can this be fixed by just wiring an amp?

will the sound of these 150w speakers be better by just wiring an amp and are they not at the top of they potentials already??

thankss alot boosterr..

appreciate it

there isn't really such a thing as a built in amp in decks .. if u want good sound u pretty much always need a seperate amp to play loud music ... with a proper amp, not those cheapie boss shit ... well maybe the boss shit if u've really god budget problems ... the sound will be much much clearer once its turned up!!! and heres a bit of advice ... with car audio .. u usually get what u pay for ... so spend that little bit extra and you'll be much much happier :P

i get what ure saying...

true...what i really meant was will the sound be aiite after?

ive got this alpine v12 amp that a friend of mine sold after he stripped his car n sold it away and if i put it in,

will the front pioneer 150w 3 way spkrs and the rear clarion spkrs, the rears are stock,, i PRESUME, be able to make good music without any more additions?

thanks alot guys...been great help here

streamer You should really solder the join in the wires otherwise it will degrade over time and cause problems.

The Axis crossover is not used at all now right?

The fuzzy sound might be the Clarion stockers. Set the fader on the deck to the front only. Is it clearer now? Most stock speakers are on their way out after six or seven years so it's better to replace them.

hmmm seems like your having a bit of trouble there...

to put it simple man a alpine cassette deck is not going to give you the volume and quality you require (although alpines latest decks are REALLY GOOD :)), but as its only 35X4 its not that powerful, when you turn it up and it distorts i would say its most likely not the speakers its probably the headdeck, although if those clarions are stock then REPLACE THEM FAST...

you can tune your current deck all you want but its still very limited, the latest 50X4 (pioneer, alpine, kenwood) decks will put out quality and will go loud but still if you want really loud (deafening) you are going to have to purchase some amps :P and the tool sony headdecks are pretty good so don't bag all their audio in general...

as for the crossover networks they are meant for component speakers dude, so if you have components (woofer and tweeter) then you use the crossover network all it does is splits the frequencies thus sending low frequencies to the woofer and high frequencies to the tweeter, but in your case just run your speaker wire straight from the headdeck to the speaker (which you have already done)...

hope this helps

    • Hi again all, I’ve tried doing some searching on the topic but couldn’t find the answer I’m looking for.   I deleted my clutch booster because it had an air leak and was squealing like a hog, and now my clutch has very poor pedal feel and the friction zone is way too small, so I believe I need a bigger diameter clutch master cylinder to compensate for not using the booster. I found a Wilwood option that’s 3/4” for a good price and will fit my 3AN clutch line, but all the firewall adapters I see online such as RB factory or Chase Bays are listed as RWD only (GTST/GTS). Link below. https://rbfactory.shop/products/nissan-to-wilwood-girling-clutch-master-cylinder-adapter My question is if these adapters will also fit a GTR, and if anyone has experience using a 3/4” CMC without the booster, my clutch is a Nismo coppermix twin plate.   Thanks, always appreciate the advice!
    • Catching up on a post, I've replaced the external shark fin with a small 4g antenna (no further drilling, just a 1mm embiggening of the existing hole, and run that to where the dual battery models have the battery in the left rear guard.  No idea what the factory antenna did, but removing it had no impact on anything I use, according to the US manual the GPS antenna is in the dash and it still works fine Also ended up stealing battery power from one of the amps and ACC power from a unit nearby to add an ACC relay to power it. The mounted the booster, wifi, power socket and antenna splitter in the rear left guard out of the way, all out of site with the boot trims in
    • What drama? The only drama you're going to have is the near constant work to maintain all those sphericals. I only have sphericals in my front caster rods and front upper CAs (because both of these are near compulsory in an R32). I have had the front arms out of my car 34 times already this month, and if the new replacements arrive today, I will have them out and apart again tomorrow. Chasing clicking and clunking that comes from sphericals being a.....poor choice for a road car. Moisture and dirt are not their friends. I have been contemplating a change to my rear subframe that would require me to use sphericals in my lower CAs. And.....I don't want to have them that close to the road.
    • Did you need anything else you've already done? If you had it before... and liked the changes after, then supposedly it'd be more of the same. The idea about most suspension arms is to tune geometry that the OEM arms max out at/can't handle because they weren't designed to have the car setup in such a way that 'looks good'.
    • I have replaced everything on my r34 including suspension to Miester R, all rear subframe bushes to poly, all arms to metal adjustable and same in front.   only thing I haven't touched is the front lower control arm. Should I? what improvement can i expect ? I mean the one on the link below?   Car drives perfectly, it is just me thinking everything is either puly bush or hard bearing type so should also do lower control arm front but do I really need it ? https://www.japspeed.co.uk/product/suspension/adjustable-arms/nissan-200sx-s13-s14-s15-skyline-r32-r33-r34-adjustable-suspension-front-lower-control-arms/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAo5u6BhDJARIsAAVoDWs5V_PauQPf0kx3zFCaA4tOC9Q7JSIsfJWma_jAPN2f1sJA686djOwaAidgEALw_wcB
