Hey guys/girls

not too sure whats involved with getting your guards rolled or lipped but does it get rid of the lip on the inside of the guard?

If so does this have any structural effect on the car?

I just bought some new rims that are 8.5" wide (front +33) and 9.5" (rear +38), do u think i will have to get my guards rolled/lipped?

any feedback would be most appreciated

cheers

it merely moves that lip up, not going to as strong as std, but its not going to be weak either

does that make the car defectable or unroadworthy?

in an attempt to stop my guard from shredding the side of my front left tyre, im going to get the guards rolled....

do ya reckon $92.50 per guard is reasonable or anyone know a place in Adelaide that would be cheaper..

i dont mean to hijack the thread...just a quick question

I know a place in adelaide thats cheaper, Kmart.

Buy a hair dryer and a wooden baseball bat and roll away....seriously

Did it on the Mazda6 MPS when we fitted 235s all round up from 215s. No paint cracking, very neat, very easy.

But by all means go to a professional if your not comfortable doing it yourself or want a better finish, but $100 a corner sounds a bit expensive.

i paid $40 a corner for mine.. got it done thru drift racing industries and he DID NOT use a heat gun and he cracked the shiet out of my paint and dented my rear 1/4..

i should've just waited and got luis from drift garage to do it but i was impatient.. serves me right for doing so.

he is one of the dodgiest people i have ever met. I wouldn't trust him to give me correct change for a 20, let alone work on my car.

Regardless, depending on how much flare even luis would crack paint and kink guards if you want a big flare. Have a look at TMB's quarters net time you have a chance, big flare and not pretty. I did my own, no kinks but the paint is fuxored, though in all honesty try and add an inch either side and you can't expect the paint to hold up too well...

yeah i know.. i regret going to him now.. all i got done was rolled the rear guards.

i was watching luis do a imac series 7 rx7 and not a single paint crack...

i understand that flaring will cause dents & cracks and im fine with that

if anyone in syd is considering going to drift racing industries.. please dont.. unless you wanna be heaps disappointed..

oh and i found out he dented my pass side rear 1/4 too cause he was not rolling it too much and causing it to pop in and cause a dent near the door..

Might have my hands on some 18x11" rims with a +12 offset... Is it poss to pump out the guards out about 5cm ? lol

Thinking widebody at this time.

    • That's true. However, this problem has started since the tuning. First time with the return journey from the tuning. But yes, the pipe was clogged with dirt and rust. That was certainly due to age
    • Great info @tidi0x  Will definitely be handy for others and maybe me if I decide to keep the shit box H pattern.
    • Bumping this up one last time.... I wanted to follow up on the clutch slave issue. I realized that what the issue comes down to is the pocket is flat milled, and the cylinder does not want rest flat. So in order to mount it correctly you will need to make a spacer for the fingers so the cylinder is floating. I took two plates of aluminum, drilled some holes and was good. I did still need to make the relief cuts in the bell housing, as even with the spacer the bleed section still interferes. The OE bell housing the mounting holes are raised from the housing.
    • If the event in USA goes ahead will be interesting as it seems the rules will get more cars over here. Apparently the track is laguna seca too. Yeah s15, if I get a the lower dash trims, centre console and change front cross member to standard LCA position will fit clubsprint. See how rules are as i would rather do complete widebody than a bolt on flare to run the 295 with proper clearance.
    • If the car is legal height I can't see it being an issue. Found a thread on reddit that might offer some insight.   I got a ticket from a copper in QLD for my S15 being too low. They had this wheel thing on a stick that they put under the car and it hit my exhaust. Anyhow went to an exhaust shop to get the exhaust tucked up/hung a little higher and I wound the coilovers up a smidge. Don't think I even had to go back to the police station unlike when I got defected for having a carbon bonnet when I brought the S15 from the ACT to QLD and had to replace it and then rock up at a police station and have a yougish female officer who knew nothing about cars confirm that I had changed bonnets. Should have just painted the carbon bonnet yellow to match the rest of the car lol
