Hey guys i need a little help, ive been looking at new rims lately and found a couple that i like all in 17*7 but im having trouble understanding the whole offset buisiness... i know that basically the offset is the distance between where the hub bolts to the centre of the rim but how does the whole +- crap work? -offset further from the hub and strut assembally??

i ask because i borrowed a set of rims of cammo last night (very much appreciated) and they are 17 with 235 on them (not sure about the offset...) and they actually have more clearance between the outside tyre wall and the strut than the 16's that i had before.... im also wondering what the recommended offset for my s13 silvia would be so that i can fit 17*7's under the car withough rubbing on the strut assembally.

any help in trying to get my head around this is much appreciated

thanks for the link man, had heaps of good info, shame no pics though, im still not sure what i want to go though, thinking 17*8+30 or 17*7 +38 if i can get them, not sure how they will look though, i just dont want to have them rubbing on the guards or on the strut :)

Anything higher than +15 on a s13 is retarded, especially on such a narrow rim.

lol as if rims look mean as when they fill out the whole guard, as long as they dont rub of course...

hypactv's rims fill his guards out good as :O

besides 8 inches isnt that narrow, standard 6.5 inch rims are narrow

bryyy- what are u on about man? i dont understand anything u just said.. lol

its chris here.

im not too sure about the s13 non turbo offsets but i doubt it'll be no different from the turbo models...

17x7 and 17x8 should be ok with the offsets you said... if it rubs which i doubt, just roll the guards a bit.

but remember you have stock struts

i dont think i could fit my rims without the coil overs especially on the rear

yeah i thought about that but i think 17*8 all round with +30 would be alright though, cause cammos fit under my rear no worries, like and inch clearance between the stock strut, they 17*7, so 17*8 should fit no worries cause it fills the guard out half inch each side,

recon 17*8 will fit no worries though?? with +30 offset all round?
