1) Unless Geoff's rules have changed, You are not buying from Prestige Motorsport. Geoff is a broker you buy through him. Geoff facilitates the purchase. You are probablly buying from a Auction House or Dealer in Japan.

2) When I bought my car through Geoff, it was all good - everything worked out as expected

3) It would serve no purpose to Geoff to facilitate selling you a dud, he usually checks things pretty well.

4) SEVS rules have changed so what I am saying could all be crap because most of the cars being imported now are using the 15 year ols rule.

5) Do a search on the SAU - on "Prestige Motorsport" you find a lot of information.

6) Beware of 15 year old imports - some are really good , some are really crap - I have no experience of 15 year old imports thru Prestige.

7) Geoff is a top bloke and does his best. If the car you decide on is not up to scratch because of something Goeff didn't know about, that's not his fault or problem

8) Most of the time importing is all good.

9) You must accept some risk for the good price you can cars imported from Japan

10) Sometimes accepting risk pays off... big time.

11) I would import using Geoff again if I was after a car that was on his list.

Hope that helps.

ummmmmmmmm im finkin about buyin off them too

but like i live in sydney and like ive read how they will ship the car near the closest port to me..but like..so do i pay the money to them b4 i get the car?

isnt it a bit risky? since i wont get to meet geoff the person...like im willin to accept that risk but my parents will be like

"what if we pay them and the car never comes" ill be pretty ***ed up..........since geoff isnt realli a business and wont have a abn so i cant realli file a complaint or nething

but hmmmmmmmz its a bit risky isnt it?

ive seen the cars that have been sold through him and i think they are magnificent.........have the 1 i wanted exactly for like $21 000.............R33 GTST 97 S2.....i went to cosmopolitan cars and the guy said if i wanted a Series 2...i have to pay at least $25k+

so has any1 else bought off prestige motors?

I'm pretty sure Geoff would have an ABN sionce he is doing business and you do actually pay him a fee of $1100 I think. You just dont buy the car from him.

You buy the car from the Dealer in Japan and you are basically paying geoff a finders fee and I think he also helps with the whole logistics of importing. I've never actually imported a car but have been thinking about it lately so I've done a little research and this seems to be the way most importers work. oh and remember to factor in on road costs and new tyres into your price cos most of em dont include that.

I have never bought a car from Geoff/Prestige, but have read numerous good reports on his work, and am considering importing a 89 model soon myself.

From what I've heard he is very professional and offers a great service at a reasonable price.

Geoff has been around for years.. and probably hundreds, if not thousands have imported thru prestige. So concerns that he will "disappear" with your money are pretty unfounded. I very much doubt that would ever happen

As to whether he is a good importer or bad importer.. dunno myself.. But all i can say is like any place, one bad story can easily become way blown out of proportion and counter all the people very happy with a service (in general terms)

u can trust geoff risbey, and yes he does have an ABN, it's a registered business. I have imported 2 R33 skylines through him and the service he provided was 2nd to none, i highly recommend him as an importer. if u have any specific q's feel free to pm me.

I agree with the others. I imported my R33 through Geoff and having never done it before, it turned out quite easy in the end with Geoff assisting me all the way. He always answered any questions I had and liaised with the necessary people.

I live in Perth but I never actually met Geoff so there is no real issue with not meeting the guy.

The car was better than we thought when we got it here with a few good surprises.

Recommend him and if I need to import another car, will use him again.

Cheers, Al

I'm looking to import, but I'm worried about spending $20,000 on a car based solely on an auction grade. I'd feel a lot more comfortable if thorough engine checks were carried out prior to auction. Has anybody here imported a lemon?

Also, how much would it cost to remove a couple of small scratches and wave marks from a car? A few hundred bucks?
