Im a member of Ns.com and SAU, and reside in Victoria. Being an ex adelaide boy, and my girlfriend being one too, we thought for her birthday that we would spend 4 days over there, drive around, see the sites and what not, see what Adelaide has to offer as i remember it being a very quiet subtle town, with none of the melbourne bullshit..

So we had a mad time over in Adelaide until sunday night...

Now all of you Adelaide import owners must know Windy Point look out. well i took the missus up there on her birthday night (sunday night) to show her the site after a really nice dinner at the revolving restaurant down in Glenelg.

As we were coming down the hill, Belair rd, around the big 'U' right by the car park, some idiot in a maroon r32 gtst came screaming around the corner, slide out and nearly hit our car(keep in mind, we had a hire car as we flew in). he had downed a gear coming around the corner, and then skipped across the road and slide out. i veered slightly left to give him some room, and then slammed on the brakes.

There were three idiots on the corner in the carpark; one was a s13 sil, and the other was an old datto.

After the near miss, as i said, slammed on my brakes, and screamed at the driver, and the guys on the hill started to talk shit. my gf got really freaked out by what had happened and didnt help my anger issues..

if you are on here mate, you should hand your licence into the police. i had seen some stupid driving on teh roads in victoria, seen idiots write their lifes off and endangered others.. but what you did that night was utter stupidity. you are not a hero trying to dori a corner or hills run the whole length, your a dick mate.

i honestly hope this is not how all import owners in Adelaide drive these days.. i am not making an oblivious stab at all Adelaide drivers, im merely putting forward the point that if the driver is on here, he should seriously rethink driving ever again...

/end rant.

sorry to post such a topic, but i feel it had to be expressed as to how some dickheads on the road think they are top shit, when really, put them under high pressure hills runs, with the proper suspension package, they wont make it 500m up a hill.

and please dont post shit in here like "if you dont like it, dont come back".. as ive done the whole street drift and hills run and got over it very quickly as to how dangerous it really was..

lets hope the dude diddnt have ne sau stickers on his/her car... last thing we need is sau getting an even worse reputation.....

hope this has not put you off adelaide mate! we're not all idiots

all the best :whistling:

By all means guys, we had an awesome time.. we love Adelaide and do plan to move back there in the near future!

everything about adelaide is beautiful; from the monarto zoo, to mount lofty/piccadily way, belair and the hills to glenelg, it is all fantastic.. we love everything about adelaide..

i know all adelaide drivers arent like that, and import owners are more intelligent when on the roads, especially on Windy Point, but i was close to giving him a flogging.

appreciate the comments guys!

That sucks :whistling:

I know what its like having a good time with the GF and some clown ruins the day ... I think we all do.

If its someone from here, put yourself in his shoes ... and grow the f**k up!

sorry to hear about it mate....most of the time the import drivers that i cruise with and affiliate with are pretty good....its just that adelaide has boomed and lil P platers that get their license from a cereal box think that they are a DK coz now they have a hectick turbo.....so you still get your dickhead/wanker in a import every now and then.....

PS not having a go at all P platers

PS not having a go at all P platers

I will. :) I always get the "you were a p-plate driver once" ... No I wasn't!

Write a letter to our minister for transport.... just another reason to hurry the f@*k up and build a new motorsport complex!!!

i have always said in discussions concerning "hoons" that more motorsport complex's should be built. look at victoria; we have Calder and Winton, Winton being the better for drift imho, but is 3 hours out, and Bob Jane became a little bitch and said no more drift events at Calder.. there have been plans made for more motorsport complex's, but nothing has been put into action.

i did my fair share enough that night i reckon; yelled abuse at the driver, yet he didnt say a thing back, looked like a mere 19 year old.. took his rego down, i knew the exact make, color, exterior mods as soon as it happened, and reported it to the police. also reported the three idiots on the hill as well, being their rego, their makes of car and color and any modifications i could see aesthetically. gave the cop a description of the driver as i saw him clearly. apart from all that, yelling abuse and was about to get out of the car and kick the drivers head in, yet i wasnt too sure if it was on purpose or if he took the corner too hard, which in my opinion states he was trying to be a "DK"..

i saw many nice skylines in adelaide, and majority had SAU stickers; i felt right at home as i use to live there and use to own an R32 :P no dickheads on the road from what i could see, and we clocked over 1500km over 3 and a half days..

no offence to p plater drivers in adelaide, but your law is absolute bullshit. you should get your p's at 18, AFTER completing a self driving defence course, and you have to have the marks to pass.. adelaide is on the right track though.

i got my p's about 4 months before i turned 19.. i was a contractor at that point going from job to job and i had to deal with a lot of shit driving and idiots on the road.. over time i learnt how to control a car, and at the same time was dori'ng my r32.. i got the experience on teh street from working and having fun..

law needs to get more stict on adelaide drivers imho.. mainly ppl going for their p's, as this dickhead had no understanding on the control and feel for a car.. scary shit, especially up windy point, at night..

    • I have seen a case where the starter motor shorting against the casing caused a massive voltage drop + so much EMI that it caused all the sensors to spew garbage data at the ECU. Test the battery to make sure it has acceptable CCA/capacity first, I have gotten "brand new" batteries before that couldn't even power a 10W light bulb without dying probably because it sat in a warehouse too long without being charged. Only easy way to diagnose this 100% is put an oscilloscope on the battery and also look at key sensors to see if there's any clues.
    • There's a bunch of smaller shops that don't quite attract Singer money but are still hiring from that same pool of labor. Those are the body shops that you go to when you can't afford a Singer, but your old Porsche needs some serious bodywork. You can't exactly take those cars to the usual insurance body shops. When I say restomod, I mean they'll do something other than 100% OEM/OEM-equivalent aftermarket parts R&R. In the Porsche world this would be stuff like taking a 50k 964, doing a bunch of deferred maintenance/unwinding the nightmares the previous owners did to the car because a lot of people that own these cars tended to be penny wise, pound foolish types, then maybe some relatively simple off the shelf modifications to things like suspension, transmission, engine, headlights, etc. and you've spent 130k USD. When even the worst houses in the poor neighborhoods are worth 1M USD and the nice houses in wealthy neighborhoods are worth 3-10M USD suddenly 130k spent on a 50k car seems cheap.
    • Hoping to get a few ideas to help troubleshoot this issue, I'll try to keep it short.  A mate popped the motor in his 2018 LDV T60 with the 2.8 turbo diesel motor. He swapped it and I was his phone a friend when he got stuck.  The new motor is in, however it won't fire. The battery is literally brand new, when you crank it the volts very quickly (say 2 seconds of cranking) drop to 8 volts and the engine stops turning over. Watching the belts, I'd say they move about 5cm before coming to a stop. We put a booster pack on, no change.  The only potential issue I'm aware of is, when we pulled the motor the grounding strap was still attached. The strap copped a thrashing before we realised what was going on. It looks okay-ish but it's going to be replaced to rule it out.  The main challenge is, I wasn't there for 90% of the work. This is his first time doing any major work on a car and he was learning as he was going. He thinks everything has been put back together properly, however I'm not entirely confident that this is the case.  It would be good to get some ideas about what else to check. The car isn't spitting any codes so that doesn't help.  I've attached a photo, because why not lol.
    • I mean an N1 came with a minimal paint thickness compared to dealer models. It’s probably had a ton of vinyls and stuff possible a race paintjob or two over the years. you don’t buy an N1 for its stunning good looks or comfort 🤣 you buy it to send it and measure how much air you can get on the hill at Bathurst
    • Yeah, but "restomod" implies Singer and things like it, which implies drug money / trust fund maturity.
