Hi Guys,

I am trying to remove my steering in my car so i can take the dash apart without the steering wheel being in the way. I have taken off the front cover and removed the gold nut, but it still feels like it's on rock solid.

The reason why i want to remove the dash is cause my white face dials aren't working no more since replacing my headlights with the super white ones, the face dials will work intermitantly, sometimes staying off for ages, other times going on and off. it doesn't affect my headlights or anything, and it is not related to going over bumps etc..

can anyone help?

thanks

Kris

ummm put the nut back on but dont tighten it, just enough to cover the threads and give it some firm but not stupidly hard taps with a hammer, and if possible get someone to yank on the wheel while doing this. as for ur white face guages i can only think that there must be a loose connection somewhere so just check all the wiring.

cheers

John

Yep sounds like the dash dimmer switch. The compliers probably put the cheapest one they could find in. (Nothing like saving a couple of dollars...:D )

The secret to getting the steering wheel off:

Take the nut off (as you've done) and with the ball of your hand whack the outside of the wheel at the 12, 4 and 8 'o'clock positions. Voila! wheel should slide off. :D

Thanks guys for your replies, i didn't need to take the wheel of, i ended up getting the dash out without having the wheel being in the way. I took out my face dials and tested it just to the battery, nup didn't work, i think it's stuffed, only prob is i need to take the white face dials off the original dials, its stuck on hard :P

no prbs, just be real carful when taking the needles off, i stuffed my speedo, i took my guages to be calibrated also after i put the el guages in. The speedo is ok just a little slower to respond.

yeah, thanks, i'm gpnna take it to the guy who i got it done by, just to see what we can do about it. I flattened my battery once again :( so now i need a you f*cken battery (the one i got i've had for 2 years, it has been flat like three times now, i think it's time for a new one) anyone recommend one? Brand?
