So this is a Nismo edition of the standard MFD in the GTRs?

Just wondering because I couldn't locate any of the "G Meter" or Lap timing features on mine that were mentioned in the Top Gear review Clarkson did. I had assumed it was a different variant on the UK imports..

here ya go. read the last line.

Nismo's MFD Upgrade is an upgraded vehicle monitoring system. It comes in two versions. The first allows standard vehicles to receive the same information as the V-Spec Models on the in dash screen. Including Boost, Throttle %, Injector Cycle, Oil Temperature, Water Temperature plus Exhaust Temperature and Intake Temperature.

Some nice changes to standard features include increased boost readings up to 2.0bar, and increased range for temperature meters. These are a must for tuned GT-R 34s.

Additional features include a Start up display upgrade, Single mode Meter display or Twin mode meter display. G force-meter, Lap Time information and more.

The MFD also includes MFD Data Logging Analyser system software. The software can also display many more parameters. Unfortunately this is available only in Japanese, however there is abundant information on the internet on how to navigate through this software.

Fitting involves removing the dash screen and swapping electrical circuit boards inside this enclosure as well as adding the new boost sensor.

Rysith, yeah im pretty sure it was only ones imported into the UK by nissan themselves that had the gforce meter and whatnot unlocked. The nismo one you can buy (around $800ish i think) that i have has all the extra features. Pretty rich but its my toy so ill spoil myself with it :)

Im not fitting the unit myself however I asked if the workshop could fit it while it was in and they asked if it had english instructions so if I had them I could guarantee it would be done.

The workshop has apparently got this thing fitted but now they say they cant install the software for it as its in japanese?

Is the software needed just for the meters in the car? or is the software just for the lap timer gear if you want it on the comp?

Anyone had any experience with this unit. thanks in advance

as far as i know the software is only used to download data to a laptop, hasnt got anything to do with actually running the MFD.

have they tried rebooting the mfd after putting in the circuit boards?

btw brett if it wasnt much trouble could u possibly take some pictures has to where the circuit boards are placed? im comtiplating getting the nismo version myself, and would love to know how to get it working before i purchase it.

of course if its outta your way dw about it.

Sorry I didnt install it myself, as far as im aware though the installation shouldnt be too hard for someone who knows what they're doing, from what other have said its just a matter of swapping the 2 circuit boards and fitting the new boost sensor (and a little button in cabin somewhere for the lap timer if you want it). My workshop (C&J Motorsport bris southside) managed to install it without any english manuals and really cheap.

Setup is a little bit tricky as I had to search online for a good hour and piece everything together to work it out and everything is in japanese again, once you have a good set of instructions though its easy enough, pm me if you need any help took me about 10min once I knew what I was doing (as you need to take the car for a quick drive). Might even write up a little tutorial while I can still remember as I couldnt find anything on SAU and the UK GTR site was missing a few things.

Btw its a nice little addition to the car, probably overpriced but its worth it to have the neat feature like the gforce meter :D plus on my standard mfd I guess it wasnt setup properly and throttle sensor and another one wasnt working, however with the nismo one now all sensors work 100%. One thing I did notice however was my cd player wasnt working anymore im not sure if the nismo one doesnt work with it or the workshop didnt hook it up, however im not fussed as I have a dvd/audio player waiting to go in.

Reviving an old thread here but I cant seem to find anywhere else in regards to the setup process of installing the NISMO MFD Ver II. :(

I tried msg'ing AhhBurt but he hasnt been online since 2011! lol

So can anyone shed some light on how to setup the Nismo MFD once installed?

Cheers,

Glen
