- Bosch 044 is an external fuel pump

- Bosch 040 is an in tank fuel pump

Sorry not to sure mate. I bought it as part a fuel system setup that WAS going in my car but now plans have changed. This setup was recomended by my machanic who is away at the moment so I can't ask him.
