i have fitted and tuned 3 of the gtr plugin boards now and am very very happy with the results... cold start is great, steady afrs and smooth driving and no afms ...customers are very happy..

next week we are fitting 2 r33 gtst rb25 plugin boards.. will keep you guys posted..

also for the bigger hp gtrs we are fitting a v88 ecu with plugin adapter in 2 weeks for testing...

Like Trent, I too am interested in purchasing these items through someone other than a direct retail competitior...

Hey sam ive fitted and played with one and they are great but they are just a re-branded LINK from NZ. They tune up real sweet and the software is easy to use and quite well laid out, i certainly reccomend them but i must now compare distribution and pricing with LINK.

have a r33gtr with the top of the line vipec v88 ecu with plugin adapter loom running today...

this ecu setup is for the bigger hp rb26 gtr and rb25s runs a external 7 bar map sensor...

tuning it this week to get some good tuning data...

No surprise there.. Software was almost identical to the old G3...

The link is almost $400 cheaper though? whats the difference?

Does the $400 just get you australian based support?

Also, what about air temp sensors, with the afm gone, do you wire one in?

all vipec ecus come with a air temp sensor and plug to wire in...the gtrs use the factory air temp sensor and for rb25s use the vipec air temp sensor supplied with the ecu...

ecus can be supplied with base maps depending on your mods talk to your local vipec dealer...

and yes you do get great support from vipec dealers...

the r34 gtt manual ecus are a few weeks away... r34 gtt autos will need to run the factory ecu to control the auto and wire in a v88 ecu to run the engine....

Are any of the sellers shipping these loaded with a base map yet, similar to how the power FC is standard?

Yes we are able to supply units with base maps and also a variety of levels of tune.

Be great when you become a SAU sponsor then :P

I have a ViPEC with a Greddy EBC. Works fine I guess. I was told standalone EBC's function better than the Vipec's but I can't see there being much of a difference, other than being able to switch from high to low.

I was told that you can wire in a high/low boost switch.

I was looking at the website earlier and noticed in the comaprison table between V44/V88/plug-in, that the V44 and plug-in ECUs do not have knock control. It says the V88 does, but not the others. I hope that the table wrong. Can anyone confirm? I was under the impression they all have knock control. If they don't then that's a bit disappointing as your losing a factory feature. It was also a major advantage over the Power FC and others.

Of course, if I really want knock control I could buy a V88, but then a lose the 'stealth' factor of the plug-in boards.

Only the V88 has knock control, that is correct. Don't worry about the "stealth" look, you can't see my V88 ecu unless you start ripping apart the interior carpets etc.

That's a bit of a worry, because there is no means of controlling knock and no means of indicating it like you would witha Power FC. Not sure if I wanna cough up the extra $$$ for the V88, plus adapter loom. It then puts me in the ball park of other ECUs. Other than that, the Vipec does look impressive :)

    • Good morning all, Bit of a random question but figured I’d finally throw it out after wondering for a long while. Before I start, I'm hoping to do this purely out of personal preference. I think it would look better at night, and don't mind at all spending a few hours and dollars to get it done. I've copied this from a non-Skyline specific forum, so I apologize for the explanation of our headlight switch setup that we all know. Here we go: Zero lights (switch off) Parking lights (switch position 1) being a rectangular marker on the outside of the housing, my low beam being the projector in the centre (position 2), and a high beam triggered by my turn signal stalk. Most North American cars I’ve owned of this era have power to the amber corner (turning indicator) light as part of the first switch (parking lights). I’d love to have these amber corners receive power when the headlights and parking lights are on (headlight switch), yet still blink when using the turn signal which is of course a separate switch. Hopefully I’ve explained my question correctly. Is anyone aware of a way in which I might be able to achieve this? Thanks in advance
    • My heads are cathedral port! It's likely possible, but I don't want to add any extra moving parts (I know they don't move) between the heads, manifolds, etc. It will also affect how injectors/fuel rails etc sit and I don't really know if it would change how the FAST manifold goes/sits/fits. I have the LS6 steam pipes already as I have a very late LS1 block so it should be fine. I couldn't find anyone who had ever actually used one for this purpose, it seems 100% of people grind the water pump. The thermal spacers are 12mm and are half way to the cost of the newer water pump anyhow... so if it comes to that I suppose I'd rather buy a new pump. The bearing in the pump I do have is a little.. clunky, but it hasn't done that much time and I never noticed it when the car was together in the past few years, so..
    • The bushing has failed, not all that uncommon for a car of this age.  Any mechanic should be able to push in a new bushing for you, or you can probably buy the entire lower control arm, complete with bushes.
    • Could you not use "thermal" spacers to give the clearance, like the ones I used between the blower and head? That raised the manifold height by around 10-15mm Albeit the ones I used were for cathedral ports, but I assume they have similar for rectangular ports????
    • Thanks Paul I reached out to Autotainment but they no longer work on JDM cars as the guy who used to do the work moved on and is no longer doing that kind of work. I am talking with Level Up Audio though.
