Hmm, strange, ..... well at least your seeing the same results, so thats re-assuring for me, thanks for the feedback.

God i LOVE the interpolate, and "copyright" haha Simple little things that just make life SOOO much easier.

Oh yeah.... i called past the dyno on way home and tried to pull a log.... and his laptop did connect , however when trying to save a log, it saved nothing, and after a few tries it locked up and said firmware needs reloading or something... and i shit as i had to pick up stepdaughter in 10 mins. But a power off sorted it ..... i did have 4.2.1 however so i did upgrade to 4.3.4. So got me stuffed why my lappy doesnt work in datalog or update... only pclink.. weird. will try it again tomorrow with new firmware inplace.

are you trying to run an old tune on previous firmware? I believe if you update the firmware you must open a new tune file and copy and paste the numbers over. It should then log ok then.

No dirt, All new from scratch, last old map is outta GTST link, and not even the map numbers are remotely compatabile.

err rather embarrisingly, i didn't have the ecu logging turned on.... hence why no data. i assumed it was on. Silly me !

I kept looking at the software throughout the day thinking..... where the hell is the ecu logging .... i know i'd seen it once.... And of course it didn't show up until plugged in this afternoon on way home! Doh.

My laptop still won't pull a log , says it can't connect still, but im about to go out and try it now, as i just updated to .NET 3.5 .... hope that is the prob.

I finally got to pull a log down, however the .NET thing didnt do it .. I had to go into the com port driver settings and turn off the FIFO enable. However firmware update still cant see ecu.

Dirt, i did this map in ecu firmware 4.2.1, using 4.3.4 pclink. Ecu is now flashed to 4.3.4 (using mates laptop). Do you think this might cause dramas ?

Replaced my IAT sensor, IAT Temp behaved all of last night, car idled better, still not 100% as it was before the turbo went. But no huge hunting problems. Did break down once slightly. May have knocked the main issue on the head though.

Guys,

I was just out playing with comp, pulling logs etc ... and i noticed 2 problems... When i log on the PC inside PCLink, no problems at all with all values displayed.

However, when i use ECU logging and then play back one of the downloaded logs, the Wastegate DC reads whatever value the solenoid is last at when you logoff PCLink to run the playback. Normally this is 0, but i lowered all the lockout values etc to get it showing a value at idle, just to verify, and sure enought that constant value is in the ECU logs.

Also, i use Analogue 4 as a GP Pressure (link 2.5Bar) using CAL5 . Logs fine in pclink logging, 100kpa with engine stopped, as it should..... but ecu logging shows a value of 10 ...

Anyone had issues with discrepancies between the two logging methods ?? Im heading over to the link forum now to post these issues. Just thought id mention it here for general info incase you come across it.

first pics of the engine monitor...will update with more info after full installation and testing is complete.

The unit plugs straight into the CAN bus port and is fed data direct from the Vi-PEC.

my photography skills are a little bit poor.

Here in Adelaide I've been quoted.

Vipec V88 - $2475

Vipec R32 Plugin - $1765

External knock amp to suit the plugin - $235

I've seen them around cheaper (boostcruising I think?) so now to find that link again. :)

1) $1980+tax+frieght

2) $1350+tax+frieght

3) not on my current pricelist.

dirt have you seen the LInk display unit? plugs into usb / can connector. $800+tax

The DisplayLink is compatable with all Link ECU's that can run PCLink

Point of Difference

The DisplayLink is not a preset segmented LCD like other aftermarket "dashs" but rather a full graphical display that is clearly visable even in direct sunlight.

Features

Full graphical gauges for every measured output

Crystal clear 320x240 display viewable in direct sunlight

User selectable contrast

Intuitive user interface

CAN bus for future expandability

Waterproof aluminium enclosure

Logging

Up to 20Hz data rate from ECU’s

Supports LEM, LinkPlus, LinkPlusG2 and most Plug-In Link ECU's

Onboard FLASH memory for continuous logging

Up to 30 minute data logging

Playback on dash for after event analysis

Graphing

Multiple axis graphing available on screen

Graph can be paused or cleared and used to display playback of logged data

All data available can be graphed against time or any other parameter for onboard analysis

Graph MAP against RPM to aid boost control setup

Alarms

Alarms can be set to warn user of dangerous conditions (eg over voltage, low oil pressure)

Combinational alarms can be set (eg. AFR is greater than 14.0 AND MAP is greater than 150kPa)

Alarm is displayed on screen and warning LED flashes

Gauges

Multiple styles of gauges for user preference

Some gauges have “peak” memory showing previous peak value for 2 seconds

Digital gauges display up to 8 different runtime values on screen for diagnosing problems

Digital gauges may be customised to user preferences

Customisation

Four fully customisable run-time screens available

Group information in whatever order is most useful to you

See the list of parameters available below

Well ive decided that im going to sell my PFC pro in the coming weeks, and get one of these as im about to go a big power hike it will be cheaper for me to sell the PFC pro and buy one of these and save myself some cash by not buying a Z32 afm. :D

I'm looking at getting a Power FC for my 34 gtr, thought I would revisit this thread.

I have to say all these little dramas are not convincing me to get a Vi-pec.

I'll admit I havent read EVERY page, just the first few and the last 4. I'm also not the most technically minded, I just like my cars to run fast and reliably. I'm not a tamperer, I dont adjust what my tuner does.

Does the Vi-pec suit my needs or should I stick with a PFC, of which I have never had a single drama with in the past?

Any help/advice Paul or Trent would be greatly appreciated.

What dramas ? There are no major dramas with the LINK/ViPEC . Little very minor stuff you would never notice as end user, but its always being updated with new features and things get fixxed.

But if your not that technically minded and don't want to play with it yourself, why not just go see your tuner and ask what he would like to use..... as in the end of the day, to you, the end result is what matters.

But i still say get one. From a tuners point of view i can say there bloddy brilliant. Ive used LINKS since the early ones and this is the first one i've got really excited about...and still am ! :D

Gary

On the topic of compatible dashes with the Vipec I have contacted Stack in the UK (I am sure many people are familiar with the Sard Stack dashes which are manufactured by Stack UK which supply Sard).

Anyway they have a dash that may be compatible with the Vipec ECU via CAN port, at the moment the AIM MXL, Motec ADL2, Racepak IQ3 and Race Technology DASH2 (soon) are compatible with the Vipec. Would be cool to have a Stack dash in there too, they look awesome with their analogue tacho and LCD display!

I have contacted Ray Hall too, if there is any serious interest I am sure the Stack MFD ST8916 could be added to the list.

My Vi-PEC is by far superior product than anything ive used before...its top shelf.

but your tuner should be the one you are asking questions to as he will be the fella crunching the numbers into whatever ecu you choose.

I'll have a chat to Beno and see what he thinks.

Gary, you ask what problems lol, I was referring mainly to your posts. Try reading them again, you would scare the hell out of anyone thinking of buying one.

Its all good, I'll keep silent and just keep reading.
