DCIEVE
The vipec brand must be a huge boost for link in Australia - back when I ran a link plus (6odd years ago) it was near on impossible finding an rb tuner willing to touch it - not that I could blame them, for 2grands worth of ecu plus the few grand in tuning I threw at it (over a few months) it was never close to being 'right'. Maybe under the vipec name some people will give it a second chance. Burnt once..... FineLine
At the end of the day who gives a flying f**k who designed it, where it was built, who's marketing it etc... You do Paul. And you have spent the last 11 pages telling us about it. Those problems were unfortunately incredibly common and i guess that seemed to taint the reputation of the Link computer. Ever since the G3 the computers have been top notch and really very reliable. People do still seem to find faults in them, however Link is always working on software code and upgrading things. Im sure most people with Vi-Pecs would be quite happy to have constant upgrades. Links after sales support via email is rather poor in my opinion. When trying to set mine up i had to rely on people on the link forum helping me with the occasional input from someone at link. They didnt reply to emails at all. That was me trying to DIY the computer myself, however most people will go and drop their cars at a tuner with the computer on the seat and pick it up the next day. For most people it would be a better idea to put the $400 into the cost of the tune. I dont know why there is so much effort going into covering this up. Most people will be quite prepared to pay the additional cost for local support, just dont bullshit the motoring public as word travels fast. Shane, you could use the IC Spray function (Intercooler). You could also grow your own control by selecting a GP Output or a GP PWM. The GP Output will let you control the NOS based on three parameters. The GP PWM will let you control using a 3D table. The dual ignition table function can be used to provide ignition retard for nitrous, the second ignition table is configured to activate when the nitrous is on. CeJay
Quick question, and pardon the noobieness of it. Slowly getting my car back on the road after the turbo blew. Just wondering is there an rrp price Vipec recommends to enable knock control? boost control? antilag and other options? Or is it basically up to the reseller/tuner? Already have the VIPEC just looking at some extra features. thx Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/218179-new-plug-in-ecu-coming/page/23/#findComment-4383939 Share on other sites

Boost control and anti-lag are STD features. TiTAN
CeJay, you will need a knock amp to use the knock control on your plugin board (only the V88 has a built in filter/amp last time i checked) the boost control will need a solenoid that the ECU can control. the antilag, launch control, and flat shift are options that need to be setup and enabled in the ecu (making them options that are enabled via laptop or switches is up to you) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/218179-new-plug-in-ecu-coming/page/23/#findComment-4384659 Share on other sites
Roy
So can anybody confirm the number of ignition drivers and whether i can run this bad boy on AFMs yet? TiTAN
4 ignition drivers on the plugin using 3 to run wasted spark. You can do sequential on the V88. As for the AFM's give ray a call if your interested. BUT my experience aside whether you choose to buy the LINK /VIPEC it is a definate winner especially for those looking for a great PLUG IN ecu that offers great plug in driveabilty and tuneabilty... i rate it 9/10 Edited January 30, 2009 by URAS Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/218179-new-plug-in-ecu-coming/page/23/#findComment-4397494 Share on other sites
Roy
So can the V88 still be plug in? Whats the thoughts these days on an ECU that doesnt have 6 ignition drivers. Everybody used to write off my LT8 because it used batch fire sayign it was cheap and nasty...yet 10 years later here we are with batch fire again.?!?!?!? I am thinking about another ecu as the Datalogit cost to dump tunes into my car for my 2nd turbo setup, different fuels, the Gizzmo luanch control i just bought, the fact that i still need an EBC...well perhaps its easier just to get an all singing ECU Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/218179-new-plug-in-ecu-coming/page/23/#findComment-4397503 Share on other sites

If $1650 is a small fortune for you Trent you really do have the ass hanging out of your pants. Link dont make a straight plug-in ecu...only Vi-PEC do. The Link uses an adaptor as you pictured...Its produced by TF electronics...the developers for Vi-PEC.The Link ecu is under constant change and development...who does this for them? Vi-PEC. If you dont have a clue....don't post. From another forum... When Ray split from Autronic he needed a new chipset to use...the base product that TF electronics was supplied to develop for Vi-PEC and Link was not up to the standard that Ray demands. Ray developed the ECU's for Vi-PEC and Link to get the product up to scratch. If it wasn't for TF's input...the much improved Link item would still be the level it used to be if they hadn't struck a deal with TF. Thats why you will find a lot of the feaures new to Link are actually 'borrowed' from Ray's experience with the Autronic. As part of the deal Ray got first crack at the market as the Vi-PEC was released a few months before the new Link items to allow him to get a foot hold in the market. Vi-PEC products also come with Ray's awesome aftersales service and 24hr technical back-up. This is something that Link for some reason lacks in. Yes they are both a great product but a lot of people who have purchased Link ecu's are on their own as far as technical support is concerned. It is for this reason i couldn't go past the Vi-PEC, as i previously bought an Autronic and Ray's aftersales service on that product was outstanding.
