I can get you guys this one for $210 plus shipping (should be $10-$20).

Can't believe I missed this thread.

I'm building a car PC too... using Aston Shell on XP for interface with hopefully a custom interface that's vertically mounted 10" touch screen friendly (will be hacking up my centre console cover).

Gonna be using a couple of these puppies to power a micro ATX motherboard (thinking an ASUS AIO board) and accessories such as HDD and slim form DVDR.

Might do another Jaycar group buy soon... I need to get some stuff too.

funky, I've got one of those PSU's lying around not being used as my box came with an M2-ATX, let me know if you want it :(

Oh and if you're going for a 10" standalone screen and grafting it into your dash.. I saw some 10.4" screens that use Samsung panels! for US$200!! If I didn't want/need in-dash hidaway capabilities I would have got one of those!

I bought a Xenarc for my carputer setup, i didnt want a motorised screen.

Its ok, sometimes it does dodgy things and the touch screen wont work, and you need to reboot it. not sure if this is because im running it through a USB hub which might have a fit every now and again.

Keep in mind the more RAM you have, the longer it takes to resume from hibernation. I noticed going from 512 to 1gig a lot longer start-up time, and considered going back to 512mb - just havent got around to pulling my setup apart to swap it out

I'm using the SoundBlaster Audigy NX2, which is an external USB one.

I think its 7.1 channels. I'm using 4 channels, two for front splits, two are for the sub.

There is a bit of control with the SoundBlaster drivers, for equiliser, front/rear split, sub boost, etc.

Nice. forgot about the sub. so i would need a 5.1 channel sound card.

You will probably find that if you put in 2x512 sticks it will run a lot better.

At the moment i'm only using it as a "media centre" to listen to music, not playing dvds, using GPS occasionally. so 512MB will be enough for me, and is fairly quick to resume from hibernation. 1 gig seems to take forever.

if you've got 4 speakers + a sub, you might be able to use a 4CH sound card, and piggy-back your sub off your rear speakers. use some Y-Cable splitters to send the same signal from your sound card to the rear+sub channels. That way you've still got front-rear balance, and can fine tune your sub amplification on the amp itself. Most sound cards these days seem to be a minimum of 5.1 tho.

Morning kids.

As for audio, my box has RCA out on the front hooked to the onboard sound, I'm just running that to the AUX IN on my deck and the quality seems just fine (had it cranked last night).

The Porares screen is mint! works great, looks great, but need to get me some front-end software... already dropped the stylus under the seat once and trying to hit little buttons with your finger sucks :D I do have a trackball plugged in and sitting on the floor next to the centre console and will probably leave it hooked up, it's good for passengers to use and when I need to do something that is a little hard with the touchscreen.

Having Datascan running all the time is awesome and the dashboard function with RPM and SPEED alerts is great :)

Gotta mount the PC properly after work today then I'll take some pics of the setup :D

P.S. pr0n while driving is bad mmmk

Yeah I was checking out RoadRunner today, threw the install on my flash drive and will whack it on at some point over the weekend and see how it goes. Making my own skin will probably be a lot further down the track as I'm not a programmer by nature and it looks a bit full on :)

If I can get RoadRunner to seemlessly integrate with the data and dashboard displays in Datascan, I'll be a happy man :D

is there any reason why you dont want a double din touch screen, personally i prefer that to a fold out, just looks neater.

Wanted to keep my stereo deck, to be able to fold the screen away and also adjust it to face me as it's primarly for onscreen gauges.

I found it impossible to find a double-din touch screen when i was looking! I would have preferred one if i could have found it at the time!

You'll be able to display external applications in RoadRunner - such as your data/dashboard displays.

I havent played around with skins, there are HEAPS already out there to use.
