Thread Revive :

I too am having issue's with my ATS & Across Twin plate carbon clutch it didn't have much use it seems.

The clutch was re-serviced and checked over before installing measurement of the discs was very minimal.

After installing car was dyno tuned and it was slipping on the dyno.

Once i got it back i notice if i give it a little squirt from 2nd to 3rd it start's to slip and does not grab at all ( feel's like reving in neutral )

Does anyone know if this is normal or am i suppose to warm up the clutch somehow ?

Thanks need help desperately !

P.S for general driving it is 100% perfect

With carbon plates yes you are supposed to warm them up before hand by slipping them a little bit... hence why they are recommended for race cars and not street cars. Slipping when cold can damage plates then you are up for another rebuild.

Yep had the same thing with Carbonetics Twin plate. Instructions even said before hard driving "slip clutch 3-4 times to warm up", was shit couldn't even over take without it flaring. Track clutch only. Took it straight out.

Dam!

So many problems with carbon clutches. I had one in the rally car and it ran faultlessly at 9000RPM all day

Then again, it was only harnessing 118kW of Vtec goodness (and being a N/A 1.6L, probably about 150Nm)

I had an ATS Carbon single in my 33, (new) and had the same issues as described as the OP.

Was better when warmed up, but pulled it out after less than 6 month and it was pretty well shot.

Put in a Nismo GMAX twin plate and never looked back.

I guess the carbon clutches have their place, but in a street car it isn't.
