Just did some back to back testing on our car with HKS low-mount balance pipe manifolds.

Our car runs HKS GT-RS turbos and the car suffered from the dreaded turbo shuffle. This is not a problem when racing but on the street it made the car really frustrating to drive. As the car started to build boost it would 'choof' its head off.

Replaced the HKS twin low mount manifolds with the balance pipe items and 'hey presto' problem is completely gone. The car is a lot more streetable and driving on the road is now a lot less hassle.

But....

It seems to have softened the car up a little, not coming on boost as hard and appears to have lost a little bit of power overall. Will be dynoing the car on friday to see if my observations are correct.

id say the shuffling is as GTR said is from the twin scrolling style setup, across the manifolds

when you use the balance pipe, it does as the name implies, balances the exhaust gas across the manifolds

but that probably gives a drawback and takes away the splilt pulse style setup

i think i had a similar problem with my gtr, tho i didnt really care too much for it.. i can make the car do it for pretty much the length of the m5 motorway.

it often sounds like a chu chu train just when coming on boost slowly, does not really happen with wot. or notice it then anyway.

angus smart that is the one lol.

especially on the freeway, it does it all the time, unless you give it enough throttle for it to take all the air, then you spool up instead, and let off to slow down and then resume chu-chu, chu-chu-ing.

wouldnt be so bad if it was just quieter

up hills on light throttle was murder

wonder if turbo shuffle affects the R35? haven't read any comments suggesting so yet...

I doubt it, as the turbo systems are completely separate, for the same reason the z32's dont seem to have the problem. I wonder if the shuffle is the turbo's causing each other to go into surge, and building up a pressure harmonic between the two?
