Does anyone here use proper racing shoes when they track their car, i am looking at getting some and would like to hear what people do and dont rate, pricing and other details would be good too.

As i am on short notice im going to check out some of puma's so called motorsport range and see if they are worth buying. If i had more time i would grab a pair of alpinestars i think.

cheers

Yeah I use race boots every time I go out, Mine have good heel and ankle support, quite comfortable to wear all day as well :)

Revolution racegear supply them with various prices.. http://www.revolutionracegear.com.au/?fa=home.main there is one in Ipswitch, QLD

Mine cost around the $100 mark and got them as a present for birthday but they came from a go-kart shop and they are fine..I will check tonite what brand mine are..

Just a quick word of warning though - I found that the different brands are all a different fit so make sure you try shoes on first. (aka don't order on-line from somewhere)

For example the Puma and Oakley shoes I found to be too narrow for my feet. But the Alpinestar shoes fit perfectly for me. As mentioned though they are $$$ but once the bill has been paid you tend to forget the costs once you have them on and are driving in them as they are fantastic to drive in.

Dunlop Volleys, best tennis show and driving shoe. :)

You beat me too it.

Cheapest too.

For track days they are the best. Especially well worn in ones. Although they are not FIA fire rated.

Keep in mind you can get FIA fire rated racing shoes. They will cost you a few quid. These are only required in racing events. Generally not on trackdays though.

If it is just a track day you don't need fire resistat boots. You can get a much cheaper karting shoe/boot that are every bit as good as the proper stuff, just cheaper & not fire proof.

Try OMP as a start. I bought a pair for <$100 & they are really good. Something like this;

Puma's motorsport range are the same sizes as their casual shoes.

comfy too...

They have a racing shoe range in their casual shoes.

Again not fire rated, but that is generally not required.

You can't go past a pair of $30 volleys (can get them cheaper when footware is on sale at Kmart/target!)

I just did the same thing mate, bought some of these for about half the price of fire proof boots: http://www.ompracing.it/detail.html?productcode=IC/761E.

Agreed, always found Puma's Speedcats great driving shoes, many different styles obviosly if you don't require fireproofs. :(

As for PHaT MR30, mate, don't even begin your spruking!!!..... definately "most eyecatching/pretty suit and shoe combo on ground" for you my friend :P I pity you when you need to get out in the mud after an off and trounce that ensemble through it all. lol

Oh, btw... I run ERG boots, very comfy, relatively cheap, dark colour to hide the grime, but strangly they made me sound like a lady in high heels when I walk??

I was always expecting a sexy lady to be coming, but then I turn round and its you :)

Cheers guys ill go and check out the volleys and the pumas tomorrow. I am really short on time so i think it will have to be one of these.

Does anyone know who stocks the alpinestars in brisbane?

Sherrin Motorsport in Eagle Farm have the Oakley's and I believe the Alpinestars aswell.

Doesn't suprise me in the slightest. In fact, I'm kinda glad they didn't have them, as there's not a business in the world that I dislike giving money to more than Revolution Racegear at Moorooka.......
