Hi I recently installed nistune on my r32 rb20det(in a s13). I loaded factory map on the daughter board installed and every thing runs great as stock! Now for the problem's rb20's dont have consult port's which is the way nistune type 2 boards connect to a laptop. Im getting no connection to the laptop through nistune or through nissan consult program. I know Nistune works(used on other vehicles) and I know the cables are good, the consult port is correctly wired up and im getting correct voltage from the signal wires and I have good power and ground. I heard that r32's before 10/89 won't work with consult is that true? Anyone else have problems like this? Any help is greatly appreciated...

RB20s do have consult ports for nistune.

How do i know? ive tuned 2 R32 skylines with Nistune in them.

Get the consult connector from your local skyline wrecker do a search on the web and find the instructions on how to wire in the consult port manually.

Or pay someone to do it for you. one of the r32s was a 89 model as well

I know turbotechnics in cardiff can do this for you on 0249565466

Well r32's might have consult ports but not on the engine harness, like I said rb20 in a s13, I wired a consult plug directly to the ecu, its wired correctly because ive done it before its simple....but its still not connecting? I would bring it to an experienced Nistune shop but im located in the US. Thanks for the idea's though

can you connect with standard consult software? not the nistune software

nope wont connect with standard consult either, which leads me to believe either I have a gay ecu that was to early to get consult programed in or something is wierd I don't know, me and professional techs/tuners have played with it for days...

or r32 the consult port is over by the fuse box under the dash so its in the dash loom u will need to get someone to wire it into the ecu make u a consault port u just need to know the pins from the ecu and make them go to a plug

i see your problem.

Maybe you need to snake another ecu from someone and test the consult port.

I think i can sell you one but i am in AUS.

Thanks I know one other person with a rb20 in a s13, but I don't think they will let me play with thier ecu unfortunatly..

If I do buy another ecu which looks like my only option I will probably buy a earlier a31 instead, and use a nistune type 1 board so I can just use a usb cable..

Thanks for the offer though

your best bet is to contact us (nistune) and we can help you out!

if you are using a PLMS consult cable, you have three LEDs on there, the orange/green ones will flicker during consult initialisation. if only one flashes, but the other doesnt respond then the ECU isnt talking back

my first question is - did the ECU connect to consult before installing the Type 2 board and is the car running okay (ie not running limp mode)?

If unsure, reinstall the factory chip and check this out firstly. Basically you want to get back to a stock configuration so you can check that at least your consult wiring works okay.

After this double check the plug wiring also so you have RX, TX and CLK hooked up correctly to the cable (also check GND and 12V lines to your plug)

shoot me an email enquiries [at] nistune.com if you have any further queries
