Well, a couple of weeks ago i got cut off through an intersection and managed to do enough damage to the front end of my car to make it an economical write-off. Reading through their brochure they do not offer hire cars, luckily i have been able to get myself to work and back otherwise this would be a worse situation than it is.

I paid $18,000 for the car almost a year ago, and also had extras insured : 18" rims and intercooler. Trouble is, on the phone they said they will give me a $16,500 payout in the mail (hopefully this week) until they can be sure its his fault, then pay me another $2,000 later in a seperate cheque (probably months away). But they didnt mention anything about the rims that also got chipped, and kept by them (worth atleast $1000, and insured for $1000, since i paid $1400) and the intercooler that was flat and also the piping is flat.

Anyone have an idea how to tackle this without ringing them up angry and them pushing my case aside and leaving it longer? Being without a car sucks, but not as much as a nice car :P and the fact they just want to pay me the current market value. Being under 25 sucks, only one choice of insurer. Doesnt matter that i have/ had until now a flawless driving record since '04.

Bah

VERY similar accident happened to me to write off my GTS-t. Some old bitch ran a red light and cleaned me up, still disputing the claim oh, 7 months later. I got paid out (Just Cars gave me 19000 minus 2000 for the excess) and have been fighting an uphill battle ever since. Not with Just Car may I add, they have been extremely helpful but with the old bag. Now only in the last week has she come forth with a witness (to which there were none at the time) so it's made things a bit messy... Obviously she's a liar, it's just proving it that's the problem :P

As for your case... I think the extras are included in the policy (ie. the $16500) I don't think they pay these items out separately

tuff luck with the car man.

rims n stuff like that is included in the car value they give you on your paper work not added after. if they arnt to bad chuck some crappy rims on there instead :D no that wouldnt be legal :P

i asked them bout this recently so if any of u kids at home think your car value should be more including these items you need ask/argue with them as part of the agreed value written on the form

I recently added mods, dump, front pipe, rims, to my policy. spoke to an AWESOME guy who knew exactly what i was talking about, and for those mods upped my agreed value by 2 grand! Definately the most helpful call centre operator i have ever spoken to.

i have my car currently insured with h2p for 20,000 but they can choose which mods they want to pay out. while shannons on the other hand will insure my car for 25,000 and all my mods will be covered. i know who i am going with when i turn 25.

I am also with just car and am In the motor trade, when you obtained your policy they would have given you a payout figure which is what you get if your car is stolen not recovered or written off

If you added mods to your policy they would have adjusted your payout figure to include such items.mine atm is covered for 16500 agreed value without all the mods (only exhaust is on the policy), have to ring up and add the cooler, rims, gtr interior, aftermarket computer (power fc), coil overs, all the "pretty" nismo gadgets ie; fuel cap, oil cap, the momo wheel and all the other shyte. just car should be very helpful with ne of that, best advice I can giv to neone is that if your in an accident that is not your fault call the police straight away and have them investigate as their reports are bible to the insurance companies this way it also deters assholes from coming back with bullshit evidence to try and screw you over at it is too costly to go through teh court systems these day and the risk of being done for fraud

They did send me a premium adjustment form after i added rims and cooler that was +$200 something i had to pay, and im pretty sure we had an agreed value over $20,000 but now i have no idea what they are trying to play at. The cops on the scene filed a report saying that it was his fault and just cars were told the reference number and all that on the very next day coz i had to wait in hospital 6 hours to be cleared of injury. But yeah i dunno. :)

ohh man that is so horible......i saw this car a couple of weeks back and it was a clean and nice looking 33 man......that sucks big time

hopefully it all gets sorted out with what you get paid out and shit....I am 21 and with Shannons....but i only drive on the weekends so....i am all cool

yea im 19 and they will only insure my car for 11,000 if something happens?

can i get this to the amount i paid?? plus i havent told em any mods yet so would that bring it up??

i need help to but as to where to get insurance

here are some places:

Street Tech Modified Vehicle Insurance : 1800 331 636 (Covers only nominated drivers)

Young & Cool Pty Ltd : (02) 96011600 - 1300 307 066 (Must be under 30. Max of $25,000, named driver, locked garage, automatic immobiliser, no major mods)

Unique Car Insurance : (03) 9898 9400 (Will not insure some mods eg. 18' wheels)

i got a few more but they are the ones which will help most ppl under 30.

let me know if u want the rest of the list, but i dont see it neccesary

6 years ago I was almost killed on my Yamaha R1 when a Commonwhore driver (p-plater too) failed to give way (saw me clear as day) and I t-boned him and flew thru the air. I can't repeat now what my injuries were, but they were life threatening. Took me 9-10 months to walk properly again.

I was with Western QueerBE at the time and I had to push hard for them to pay me out for everything we agreed on: bike, mods, riding gear etc. They really were difficult, even though I declared everything.

I ended up taking my own insurer to Court to settle the matter. I also took the driver to Court and successfully sued him for civil damages. His insurer left him high and dry when he got caught out lying to the insurer and police.

While I'm ranting: :)

I almost got written off yesterday on my Suzuki TLR by a 4WD who saw me clear as day, but thought "f**k it, I'm in a 4WD".

I grabbed the brakes and just missed his rear end. I was soooo close I was able to punch the rear end of his 4WD as he shaved pass so close to me.

Chased him down and gave him a piece of my mind. Remember kiddies, you have to stop eventually, and cars cannot lane split! :)

Then driving around in the silver Stag I almost got into 4 other accidents by idiot drivers (2 of them common whores). Does anyone have any driving skill anymore??? :D

i think that p platers now days are getting their license pretty easily and without thorough testing.....just the mentality of drivers in adelaide is shocking....they think that they are some F1 driver....try to fit a huge car in a tiny gap and hopefully get through....its ridiculous....i was driving on sunday *since everyone is ranting* and i had enuf room between me and my cousing who was in front of my.....then some p plater driving a old school falcon tried to get into my lane when there wasnt enuf room to prob fit a freaking excel in there....i gave him and his mate a piece of my mind trust me.....

okay when you ring them, dont yell at them coz they will get more pissed off and not do anything.

a thing that you can do is really calm voice, but repeat how important it is this is, and keep on telling them if you wont get an answer, you would like to speak to a supervisor.

I work in the industry, and everytime people does that to me, for some reason i always cringe...

Also ask for their ID number and reference number for the conversation, and write it down in case they lie to you...

if its going to the extreme, record the conversation and tell them that you are recording the conversation. It is legal as long as you tell them beforehand

Had a phone call today saying that the $18,550 is in the mail, in two seperate cheques coz they already sent one before they reviewed his letter showing that he claimed responsability so i guess that is a plus. But they will definitely not pay me for rims and intercooler, the only thing they offer, is things that are insured like that only get replaced or paid for if they are stolen or the car isnt written off and they get repaired. Im in the process of looking through all my records to see that their agreed value is right, im almost certain its worth more than the added "$500" she told me over the phone.

I agree some people should have their licences revoked!

im almost done with just car after my accident 3 weeks ago totalling my SILVER R33!!!!!

theyve been pretty good.

i had mods listed that they didnt know about & i havent heard boo about it though.

just call them up & ask to speak to who ever is looking after your claim. they will be able to help you out. nothing much else to do.

Glad to hear that it is finally getting all sorted out for ya mate.....so whats next on mind!!!!

After getting rear ended around a month ago I called up my insurer Just Cars thinking they'd claim on my behalf. How wrong was I?!

They said because I only have 3rd party with them it's up to me to solve my problems even though it wasn't my fault and even though I pay over $500 just for 3rd party!!

Stuff Just Cars I say but it's the only place that will insure me.

Oh and before I start the huge debate on "if you can't afford insurance, you can't afford the car", I can afford to pay $2500 a year but I refuse to give into these vampires :)
