Hi Guys, im asking for a hugeeee favour from any of you guys out there that have completed this project.

Here is a run down, I have had a spare RB26 block, with forged internals (jun pistons, rings, conrods, and valve springs etc.), that is sitting in my garage waiting to get convereted into my gt-t. (head is arriving soon)

I just need a basic run down of things I need to get or do before I can complete this conversion, as I want to have the car off the road as short as possible, and not want to have to wait for one special part.

Such things as wiring loom? Can I modifiy the GTR wiring loom with the factory loom?

Can you guys please list as much detail as possible, this would be greatly apprieciated. Also if you could add what I should be paying for extra parts needed so I have a rough idea too.

Thanks

Mark.

I've always been of the opinion it's easier to throw the R34 sensors on the RB26 and run an R34 Power FC to keep everything simple, just splice easy looms like the injectors and minor stuff.

PM Driver, he did his own RB26 conversion in his R34

Shit I have not been on here in a while..

I'm just trying to remember what I did it was a while ago.

Gearbox is a straight fit, and you will need to use the gt-t engine mounts on your gtr engine by memory.

Things off the top of my head that need to be modified

Coolerpiping (you will need to cut a whole where there would normally be one on the GTR for the piping, its not going to effect the chassi)

Aircon piping

exhaust downpipe

and wiring..

The only part that sucks is the splicing the wiring looms together, I would reccommend you get hold of a gt-t loom and the GTR loom and wiring diagrams for each. I linked mine up with a PFC and not the standard ecu.

hey,

i was the guy that helped driver with the conversion. basicly i merged the gtr loom with the gtt loom to allow a rb26 power fc to plug directly into the gtt loom. loom took about 10 days to make (bout 3 hours each day), but she fired up the first time!!

i cant remeber exactly, but we had to the mix and match the left and right mounts. I think the gtr braket doesnt fit, and the gtt ons bolt directly on.

radiator pipes bolt in, intercooler pipes had to be customised.

The aircon wiring had to be completly customised, and admittedly i havnt actually finished it. (driver: will get to some time soon :) )

rb26 dump pipes bolt directly in the gtt zorst.

that all i cant think of at the moment, wiring is pretty much the most difficult thing.

    • Ended up spending a WHOLE day yesterday cleaning and rearranging my shed.  Due to the aforementioned disorder, my shed is as cluttered and confused as my brain. Again, because of said disorder,  at any one time there are 5 projects on the go at once and because they're still on the go I don't put everything away so I can "get straight back to it" which rarely happens.. So anyway,  I bought a couple of cheap 2mx2m all steel "pallet racks" to put in my back shed.  The idea is to then take pretty much everything out of the main shed that isn't car related. Most of the garden and building stuff is now booted out to the back shed and onto to the shelves where they belong! There's still more rearranging and reallocating to do and it's still a bit busy in there but it's a massive improvement on how it was previously. I've discovered floor space I forgot I had...  For those that have fully dismantled a car before will understand just how much space it takes up!  Particularly panels, bumpers, engine/trans, etc.  I've got stuff hanging on every available wall to get it up off the floor!  This is not exciting content for a blog but has certainly made the shed feel like a more work ready space now!
    • Updating results from our ATR43SS-1 turbo in T3 .63, OEM bolt dump pattern. Not a big number but pretty sweet for a stock Rb20det. Car's managed to pull 220rwkws at 20psi, perfect boost control internally gated with EBC and excellent mid top end power band as they usually skydive after 5.5K. Usual bolt on supporting mods and inlet plenum and factory location exhaust manifold. Pump 98 fuel was used (Ron 93).
    • Yeah, well, it's not as though anyone is ever going to buy one of those noisy f**kers and put it into a new installation when there are better pumps that are near silent for less money from Ti.
    • I'd suggest having the engine builder listen to it, especially if they assembled it, and minimise how much you run it in the meantime. It may have a serious issue like a big end bearing from the description and I assume the rebuild was not cheap
    • Quite right, typing without checking, it is an 023 which was effectively the replacement for 040 (not that I could find either of them on the Bosch motorsport AU site), and it has a mesh inlet at the bottom of the pump rather than a separate filter
