Okay, so im thinking about getting a manual conversion done for my car, and im ringing around to get quote...

This one garage that apparently has "Very good reputation" and "started JDM in Australia" according to some magazines looked quite promising, but the service i got from them is shit.

Ive sent them 3 enquiry emails with no returns, and ive also called them up twice, and the only answer i got was the mechanic will call me back in half an hour, which was like 6 days ago!

Does anyone have any good workshops where i can do a manual conversion, but without the sh%t attitude?

i agree with wat benm said +1

i kno the place u are talking about and my car is there at the moment.

working in the import business even i dont like to give too much info over the phone.

if someone wants something done then u have to go in there and ask them in person wat the cost is gonna be,

most of the time it mite be cheaper then expected.

but go to more then one place and ask,

or if you want i can source you a conversion kit and a place to do it for you??

call me at Kansai 8447 1025 and i will help you. just remind me who u r on this forum.

Don't call or email, mechanics aren't exactly 'people persons' or 'nerds' they are greasey spanner throwing mechanics.

Visit them in person and take your car and they will be totally different people.

agreed.

they would also get hundreds of people ringing up wondering how much it costs to do god knows what to their cars, so going in with your car, knowing what your talking about shows them your serious.

For $1000 dollars I'll do it here at home, yes I am qualified. :P Seriously to remove a auto and fit a manual is not going to cost a grand. Its an afternoons work at best. These performance shops make me mad, they'll build you a motor super cheap, but any job that should be easy, whaamo, big bucks, I cant work them out. I used to work at a Importer in Adelaide and we were charging $1500 fitted inc parts. (obviously not rb25 box, but other vehicles)

    • What blows me away, is watching some of the US guys, like Tony Angelo at Stay Tuned. LS1, buys a set of heads for $1200, drops a mild cam in, pulls all the electrics, drops a basic inlet manifold with a carb, MSD thing for spark, and roll it out to make 550hp.
    • God I love shiny engine parts 🥰 Are you looking for more horsetorques in the mid range? (Smaller cam) Or just more horsetorques every where? (Big heads and bigger revs) Assumption: they were not bought late night shopping on the interwebs after drinking too many beers, which is typically how I pull pins on things......🤣 The evolution of your car is coming along nicely, I sometimes wish I didn't get bored with my cars and keep flipping them, maybe the MX5 will be different
    • I got the hazards working! Turned out it was disconnected! Indicator stock still isn’t working. I took the steering shroud off and there seems to be a third connection missing I see two small white connectors but they don’t fit the indicator switch unless they need a short lead to convert the connector type. Can someone point me in the direction of the wiring diagram for the indicator switch?   https://share.icloud.com/photos/0e8ReiFSLBVJsTPUKKfA_1IdQ
    • All of your suspension bushes/bolts etc, should also only ever be tightened when the car is sitting with full weight too.   IE, jack it back up, shove a heap of stuff down so you can lower the wheels onto so the car is "on the ground" but you have room to get under it.   It's why when properly done, you should be able to remove the shock and spring, but the arms won't go to 100% droop. If you don't do the above, you'll destroy your bushes.
