I just bought a R33 Series 2 Skyline on the Saturday, Sunday i was taking it for a drive and while waiting at the lights it just started revving by itself. My foot was on the clutch and brake and the a/c was. Has anyone had this problem before or know if it has anything to do wit the a/c being on? Its my first Skyline so im not quite sure where to start looking.

If you can go to a mechanic with a console they can hook up to your ecu ( assuming you have the stock ecu)

They will check your tps signal chances are this will be out of whack and they will reset it for you and all should be sweet.

A mate of mind had something similar he just went to the local ultra tune and got it all reset for cheap.

Hope it all works out well.

How much was it revving? Are you talking about blipping up like 100-500 rpm while idling? I bought a S2 R33GTST last week and it'll randomly blip up like that while I'm idling... sometimes it will, sometimes it wont. Also, something odd is that when I go from 4th -> neutral -> 2nd with low revs it'll randomly stall, like when making a slow turn or going into a roundabout... is that normal behaviour? Do these cars really like that much juice for even slow speeds :P ?

Heaps of fun overall though! :)

yeah it was blipping about that. i took it for another drive got it warmed up and it didnt do, it hasnt done it since. i havent experienced the random stalling but it will be something i watch out for. i got the same car so hopefully its not a normal thing in all of them :P

id be looking at a vacume leak. if oyu cant find one then head to get the tps looked at. had cimilar issues when playing around with vacume hoses on my old 33. haded put them back on corrently... could even have a cracked one.

it will 'blip' up when your ac is on to compensate for the load. Stalling will prob. be an air leak or an atmo BOV mod. Mines great on the juice, even with my foot flat to the floor :(

i heard from somewhere that this happens when the cams aren't aligned properly?

i have a similar problem on my r33. revs would drop then go back to 1000 and drop again.

Next time you go to "somewhere" plug up your earholes so you don't hear stupid shit and repeat it and make yourself look uber stupid on your first post.

and welcome.

could be something to do with your a\c settings aswell.. eg thermostat in the evaperator as that controls when to bring on a\c compressor or any pressure switch realy in the a\c that will also account for rvs going up and down as its cycling the gas through system will only do that if its to cold or running out of gas

I heard it could be your atmo BOV if you have one :D

hey i got a 95 gtst too the random stall is from the bov not beening plumed back... if this is right for u then theres not much u can do with a stock ecu . try reset the ecu by taking the - off the battey mit work

i had the same problem awhile ago. turned out to be the IAC (idle air control). take it off the car and give it a good clean with carby cleaner should fix it.

i had the stalling prob,,,,, really it could be over 20 different reasons that i have come across so far from other peoples experience but clean the throttle body, IAC, AFM (air fuel meter), changed spark plugs to ngk platniums and make sure you try to use 95 octane or higher, i find my car splatters abit on 95 so for an extra 4cents/liter i put 98 octane only..... the bov can make it stall but but 9 times out of 10 it has nothing to do with the bov at all...... its way more likely to be the things i said and alot cheaper to do than changing a bov..... so do the easier cheaper things first and if it doesnt work then start the more expensive solutions..... also make sure the idle isnt too low, nissan recomends on a standard r33 off memory 600-700ish rpm.... it says it under the bonnet in one of those stickers if your car still has it
