ive never bought or looked for one myself but im pretty sure that sounds close to buying a 25 and building it. so yeh about right i would think. dunno about shops selling ready built import engines, maybe a V8 crate motor though lol

7k for a full rebuild with forgies?

does it sound right then that i got quoted from like 7 workshops 7k-8k for a FMIC, GT30R, Injectors, Fuel Pump, PowerFC fitted and tuned!?!

thanks...

P.S: sorry for hijacking the thread, it's kind of related :P

well approx costs

FMIC = $1000

injectors = $1000

fuel pump = $300

PFC = $1400

turbo = $2000 ?

so your looking at about 5.5 grand worth of parts

then workshop labour at about $80 an hour

then about $170 an hour for tuning

hmmm im pretty sure racespec supply full rebuild kits for like 2.5k or osmething around there ? and then all the machining wouldn't be too expensive if u bring it to the machinist yourself instead of a work shop :P well thats my 2c's hahah

Cheers

how much do u want build?

just forged pistons and rods or...

new crank?

water pump

oil pump

timing belt

gasket kit

valves

valve springs

port n polishing

arp head/main studs

cams

cam gears

bearings

thats just starters

then u need the

turbo, manifold(s), ecu, injectors, fmic, fuel pump, fuel pressure reg, exhaust

now a tune and add LABOUR which is $80-90 an hour for a workshop these days

it depends how far you want to go

but an extensive rebuild say to rev higher, will cost bulk

compared to a basic bottom end rebuild

7k will get you built internals, or a bunch of bolt ons, not both.

Go read through the RB25 sticky in the Forced Induction forum..

Or you could build a cheap 30 :P

Really depends on what your goals are.. you could easily blow 15-20k on internals if you really wanted to.

cheers guys

okay im after about 250- 280 rwkw

so what kind of built would do the job

considering a 25/30 build but costs may not be woth it if im only going for 250-280

has anyone done a rb25 rebuilt recently

if so could you possibly post

1. power output

2. parts used

3. cost if possible

oh yeah any recommendations for somewher to get the engine machined

my current mods are listed in my sig

i will be upgrading the turboand cams

will these mods be enough for my target

cheers

thats between only 330-380hp

anything rebuild worth its money would easily handle that

how about just change the exhaust manifold (top or low of your choice)

bigger turbo, cams, and a full ecu?

then when the engine blows.... then rebuild it?

i was thinking of buying a motor and build it up

this might be a stupid question but what the diff between a short and long motor???

and when it comes to pistons what do 20 thou and 40 thou mean??

cheers

Yeah give me a couple of months and I'll let you know how RB30 + GT35R goes :P

Also, if you're rebuilding, there's no significant difference between building a 25/30 and rebuilding a 25.

Short motor generally means bottom end and head, no manifolds, turbos, injectors or ancillaries.

20thou and 40thou is thousands of an inch oversize, i.e. if the bores are scored and you need to bore them out then you would be going 0.020" oversize etc.

An example is my crank, I had it ground for 0.010" (0.25mm) oversize bearings.
