skyryan ATWELL represent i went to primary school with your bro

yeah i dont think it will be long till it blows

its surging at idle but only in drive and neutral(its auto)

no idea what it is

i have reset the ecu to no effect

runs perfectly above idle on and off boost

so with the oversized pistons should i wait to get the rebuild kit after the motor has been machined

so i can see what sizes i need

or would most machining places bore the block out to a requested size even if its not needed?

cheers

you may want to look at strengthenin the auto box or a shift kit

you building it yourself? or is a workshop/machine shop assembling it?

id imagine they can just do it without the actual pistons and just the sizes

build a rb25/30 :) torqe ftw!

spoolimports.com has a fair few piston/rod packages

and Sydneykid has used them pumping 500rwhp+ and still running

i am very much leaning towards a 25/30

ill get it done at a shop

any recommendations

a workshop i found has a kit for a 25 $5120 for parts plus labour which that said 1500-1800 depending on the condition of the head

sound ok???

was thinking of manual convertion

or shift kit and oil cooler and some strengthening

havent really researched gearboxs in depth yet

breakdown of the parts? and there individual cost?

labour sounds right, does it include cams?

and i dont think the rb25 pistons would fit a rb25/30

and im sure spools rods r cheapest forged items you will find $645 a set

be fare to say once u get a new turbo, manifold, engine rebuild, ecu and tune

you wont get much change out of 10k

nah no cams

no individual prices

STAGE 1 $3205

cp pistons and rings

eagle H beam conrods

genuine nissan gasket kit

tomei metal head gasket

tomei assembly lubricant

STAGE 2 same as 1 plus

genuine nissan n1 water pump

gates timing belt

$3705

stage 3 plus

ARP head studs

ARP main studs

ACL race main bearings

ACL race conrod bearings

$5120

hmmmm you might as buy one of those rebuild kits off RACESPEC hes a sponsor for the forums and he sells kits for the RB25 which includes CP Pistons, Rings and Rods for 1850 so that saves you a bit on parts and also the main studs and head studs you can get off RACESPEC or high octane racing their website is http://www.hioctaneracing.com.au/eshop/ so i hope that helps anyways :spank: but yeah it'd be cheaper if you buy the parts yourself :P

Cheers

Chi

on the cheap ftw!!

if there is a cheap way to rebuild an engine

definately gonna try to cut costs anywhere possible

but not cut quality

does anyone recommend somewhere or someone to build an engine

cheers matt

yeh fair few machine shops would be able to machine/build it

but u still need a workshop to wack on the turbo (if u cant do it urself)

ummm

u can source it WAAAAAY cheaper if thats w.o labour

check our CRD's package in the sponsor section

they have a nice deal goin on

man the CP package from RACESPEC is quality its cheap :spank: hehehe if u want quality and a price tag bust out some HKS, Tomei, Jun items :P pretty sure they'll make ur wallet lighter ;) but if ur after good cheap quality parts then yeah Hi Octane or RACESPEC is the go :(

Hi octane is over priced, 3.6k not including gst, thats closing in on 4k for

pistons, rings, rod, gasket kit, metal head gasket

RACESPEC is very similar to SpoolImports (10 bucks more for the 25 package)

RB25/26 - $1850.00

RB25/30 or RB26/30 - $2050.00

RB30 - $2050.00

SpoolImports

1. Package deal on 1 set of Spool RB30 H beam conrods with 1 set of Forged CP Pistons and rings. - $1990

2. Package deal on 1 set of Spool RB26/25 H beam conrods with 1 set of Forged CP Pistons and rings. - $1840

Both run CP pistons/some forged rods with ARP bolts

CRD

ARIAS Pistons

EAGLE connecting rods

NISSAN (Genuine) gasket kit

TRUST drag metal head gasket

TRUST camshafts

ACL race series engine bearings

Total price only $3599.00

Same price as Hi-Octane but u get cams and bearings (combined value around 800 more)

Dont forget all these "rebuild" kits

you need to factor in some of the following items if its not included

Gates timing belt $300

crank/main bearings 400-500

gasket kit $500~

Optional

Water pump $200

N1 or higher Oil Pump if your makin decent power $500+

ARP main/head stud kits 600-700

cant just throw in "forge pistons and rods" then go horray! 600hp ftw!

definatly gonna shop around heaps

the racespec ones seem okay

i read somewhere that the n1 oil pump is dodgey on street driven cars

something bout it cant pump enough oil at low rpm or something

not sure how true it is

how long would a rebuild take at a shop

taking into consideration other jobs and all that

cheers

    • Don't be ridiculous. "2-3 ugga duggas or one Oof. You have to use Oof on tie rods because you can't get an ugga dugga on there." Is not helping the guy at all.
    • I have done a lot of research before posting here and on gtruk forum. couldn't find anything. I have my gauges all part except the needle itself. the needle has a extremely small hole in the center, but the shaft going to the needle is extremely small and appears to have nothing to index it either. doesn't seem strong enough to simple pry or pull without damaging something. Already tried the old spoon trick on a extra triple meter I have from a gtt, but no luck. the center cap comes off easily but the hole in the meter face plate aren't big enough to get over the needle itself. figured this would be my best place to find someone who might have actually removed theirs. wonder if there is some type of small pin press tool to push the pin in while pulling the needle base off.
    • Ok...its taking me long enough to finally do this.  Feck financial security...heart disease will get me soon enough anyway So welcome to the garage..."Clem" Belsil80 has been running a 370Z in Super TT series. So after entering with him in last years Winton 300 i figured I  need my own car. Seems SAU Vic race cars need to be yellow....{tick} Reckon with enough motor i will be able to make up for the lack of talent and stay ahead of the 370Z... but the LS powered S13 and E36s are a ways up the road Aim is to have a car that doesnt stop or turn but has a bit of shed built motor with jam...maybe some cream  First step is getting this ex drift car log booked I am keeping faithful silver car. As the road-club car gets upgrades the race car wil get the sloppy seconds
    • Assuming that they will come off without damage at all.... i would have thought just pull straight up off the spindle with a something or other than can reach underneath. Have you searched for youtube vids of people doing similar on R34s or any other Nissan from the same vintage? They should be the same technique, in all likelihhood.
    • Keeping in mind that sandblasting is really aggressive on softer metals like cast alloy, and you can do damage that you might regret. For trash wheels, not a problem. For wheels with value/scarcity issues, etc.... perhaps a less aggressive media is a better choice?
