It's sounds too typically "Japanesey" type word... hell only old buggers say that here, and even then, it's after a company meeting where they sing the company slogan and then yell "banzai" and throw they're hands up in the air 3 times... like you'd say in English "hip-hip hooray".

Mothers say it to little kids when they're dressing them, so that the little kid throws his arms up and mum can put his t-shirt on.

Do you really want that on your plate?:D:D
