Hey all,

I currently have a pioneer deh9650 in my car and I am sick of having to change cds all the time.

I want to hook up my ipod to the car, I have had a look on the pioneer website and seen that the CD-IB100-II is somewhat compatible.

Compatibility

For use with Pioneer "iPod® Adapter Ready" Headunits and AV Receivers. Compatible models include:

* Full Touch-Panel Control models: AVH-P7850DVD, AVH-P6850DVD, AVH-P5750DVD

* Full Rotary Commander Control models: DEH-P9850BT, DEH-P8850MP, DEH-P7850MP, DEH-P6850MP

The following models can control the CD-IB100II through "External Unit Control", with some limitations in operation and display. Please consult the owners manual for more details.

* AVH-P7650DVD, AVH-P7550DVD, AVH-P6650DVD, DVH-P5850MP

* DEH-P5850MP, DEH-P4850MP, DEH-P9650MP, DEH-P8650MP, DEH-P7750MP, DEH-P6750MP, DEH-P4750MP, DEH-P3750MP, FH-P5000MP, FH-P4200MP,

* DEX-P9

* "External Unit" Compatibility with many additional Pioneer Headunit and AV Receiver models.

The main thing i want to do is just put all of my music from my computer and have it play songs randomly, but there would be times where i want complete control of the playlist.

I am just wondering if anyone has tried this combination and what limitations this will have with my head unit.

Cheers

ShanO`

i have the 9650 in my car at the moment...

once you plug the ipod in, it just becomes selectable as another source.

the large 'multi-control' dial that you use to control the volume normally basically enables your head unit to become the ipod itself.

you can shuffle all your songs...or just rifle through your playlists as you please.

i'd recommend it. >_<

  • 2 weeks later...

I bit the bullet and bought one the other week, works very well.

The only downside is that it can only show the first 8 characters of the name on the song/artist etc, but at the end of the day that doesnt really matter.

Currently using a 2gig ipod, i find that it is a good size. ~350 songs that I would actually listen to out of the thousands on the computer.
