I know wrong forum but hey most of us are nerds.... ok not all.

Issue is ubuntu 8.4 64bit the beta ran fine, now the full version crashes with no syslog or log event at all, just random crash and I cant trace the issue.

Now saying this I am a bloody sys engineer and cant find the issue.... and have googled for ever.

Any help would be great, as need stable box to run vmware desktop 6 with a least 3 to 4 clients. (the box is strong nothing like work with duel quads and 16gig ram but close enough)

Mick no bagging me out either with "what the"

bloody hell thats when it all started... great idea!!!! thank you. Syslog does have a statement about dropping sata thought it was just unmount /not in use at time issue (chatter sudo crap need to sudo and mount before its up).

Thanks will try that now cheers.

no good crashed twice both straight in a row... played a full avi went for the second then bam full freeze going to contact ubuntu for the issue all good!! tried dmesg no good tried sudo apt-get update still no good very very strange, and I cant run 7.10 because it wont find the amd quad and mother board.
