Very off topic here sweety,,start a new one in Motorsport.

Another mod thinks we are open-wheeler love children.

Neil.

Wahhh???? *is confused* haha we are checking for damaged helmets. aka cracks & stuff.

lol like the front visor thingy, do you needed it?

No, i dont - they look shite anyway IMO

ahm mm

im confused...

Albert, as long as ADR approved and in good condition its ok :P

yeah yeah it is, there one sticker on the visor and one on the back of the helmet,

coz i full cbf put the visor down, sweaty n fog n shit :P

anyone taking a tyre guage - one thing i dont got lol :(

Chris I have a spare il bring for you....

Its not mechanical, kinchrome digital... we compared it to the mechanical one of Daves and its actually pretty accurate!! ... or you can wait in turn to use the good one! it glows in the dark... hence why I like it.... :P

p.s Corinne... BBC??? suciton cap.... therefore safely mounted yes??? :P

Albert,,,it's all cool mate,,,I'm thinking you are talking about the visor ,in a car with windows and a roof it doesn't matter.

You can do the hell what ever you like with the visor.Use it,,,don't use it whatever.

Help is only a question away and please ask.

Neil

Operation track bish completed at 10.30pm.... :P Massive thanks to Dave :P

Smoky, big thanks for the use of the rims for the slicks.... the design of them means they only JUST clears the caliper!!!

Cars packed, bags are packed, tools are packed.... think we are ready!!!

cool. so do we have to have "hans" devices?

and do we all have to have our sump plug and gearbox plugs lock wired?

what about the fire extingisher? its usaly just tek screwed in, is this ok?

and since our cars are all rated to over 2.5litres (turbo multiplier) do we have to have 3 litre catch cans?

also do we have to remove all window tint?

will we be black flagged for not running valve caps on our tyres?

do we have to drain our coolant and refil with a non glycol based inhibiter?

do we need window nets?

and if we have a harness does it have to be in date?

are secondary bonnet locks needed?

what about anti shatter adhesive covers to glass light lenses?

do we need a cams approved tail shaft loop?

lets be seriouse here lol.

things like floor mats, spare tyre( held in with bolts, and passed adr crash tests..) fine. no major oil leaks and nothing baulky loose in the cabin. thats about it. just common sence.

suction cuped electronics are allowed. your waring a helmet so what can it do to you......lets not be assholes like a phillip island..

its not a full on cams target scrutineering sesson peeps.

its turn up, get all the loose shit out of the car, on with your helmet and away you go. if we are going to be full on captain cams, (confederation against motor sport) then all the items i listed above need to be implemented, and some. or its just a half assed crock.. lol :P

lets just be realistic here.. cheeres :P

Wakefield are now even selling in car cameras... have a look when you sign up, they're on the shelf next to the helmets. My suction one is also rated to 150mph and has passed CAMS scrutineering in the past, but its up to the Chief Steward to make the final decision either way, so can change accordingly at their discretion.

Cool I havent seen there cameras,I will check them out cause looking for one to go in my car :(

I took my visor off Albert found it got in the way at times. Like the others said you dont need it down in the car..I put it back on the helmet when I go karting :P

I do find sunglasses help loads when the sun comes out on the track, can get a bit glary...but it's all personal preference..

Is there going to be shirts for this track day?? Like last time?

oh thanks Neil :P

again lol

yeah thats what i meant..

mm

omg

the rims i bought wont clear my calipers :P

The rims wont clear at all or just rubs? Are you using spacers?

maybe the wheel weights are hitting the calipar..

hahaha... yes!! Smoky's rims I borrowed had that issue.... yep.. all fits, *spins wheels* and bang... the weights caught on the caliper!!

Definitely check that out Albert... if you need spacers, I have a spare set of 15mm ones somewhere... il bring em to the track...

hi everyone! anyone else not receive their cams license from texi yet?? i tried ringing them too but number on their website goes unanswered.. or is it because they aren't in yet?

    • @soviet_merlin Thanks mate!  Nothing too major but will hold me up for a while. I've got lymphomas to get taken off the back of my neck and the middle of my spine which always conjures scary thoughts!  It sounds worse than it is. Yeah great, conjuring more rabbit hole deepening , just what I need! 🤣
    • I'd argue the F50 kit I got is very good value. For ~2k I got the calipers (refurbed condition), adapters, pads, brake lines, rotors, and top hats. I think you'd be pretty hard to get Evo/GTR/350z brembos + the additional hardware for similar money. Used market for a pair of front calipers alone I've seen tend to run anywhere from $1500-2000 depending on condition.    That said, something like a GTR or 350z brembo is a lot easier to adapt to the Silvia.
    • Is there a significant price difference between the Evo/gtr/350z brembos vs the F50? Looks amazing.
    • I was actually being a tightarse at the time LOL... My OCD is tickling me into running a 2nd 8AN Teflon hose all the way down and removing the 2x OEM hardlines. My other side of my brain is telling me to run 2x hardlines front to back (also acts as a fuel cooler, so win win).
    • As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had some trouble with the Silvia's brakes dragging back in 2023. I managed to sort it out then, but the same problem came back to bite me late last year. Just take a look at the picture – I had a feeling the handbrake was acting up again, and I was right. Anyway, I'd been wanting to upgrade to bigger brakes for a while. Not that the Silvia's brakes were bad, but it was more of a "want" than a "need", you know? It was funny, though – at the time, I couldn't find any Evo Brembos, 350Z Brembos, or GTR Brembos for a decent price (of course, tons of them popped up online after I already bought my kit!). I ended up going with an F50 Brembo kit, which came with adapters, brake lines, 330mm rotors, and top hats. The F50 Brembo caliper was used in a few other cars too, like the FPV. I also decided this was the perfect opportunity to ditch the Silvia's ridiculous rear brakes and that awful handbrake (some of you were definitely right about that!). I picked up some R33 calipers and all the necessary bits – rear drums, backing plates, and new hardware to refurbish the calipers. Of course, it wouldn't be a project without a few hiccups. Turns out the brake master cylinder was playing up and basically (to put it simply) keeping the brakes engaged. I had it overhauled, and after some adjustments, everything was working again. The whole process took a while, as you can imagine. To top it off, the front right wheel bearings were shot and needed replacing too. This is a rare occasion where I'm posting an update while it's all still fresh! These pictures were taken just this afternoon.
