i dont care about the early start! especially if it gives us more of a chance to get a garage spot to prep cars etc.

also if you're offering to let me ride with you for a lap i'll take you up on that! see how a good car with an eperienced driver goes on a track... then i'll have a go :D

A couple of tips for if you have never been out on a track.

"let it coool..."

wise advice...id put my handbrake straight up if i ddin t watch that vid.

Cheers

Just a friendly hint.....

..... Check your Brakes!

I mean everything too. Make sure there is plenty of meat on your Pads and your Disc's and do a Brake Bleed. I can't stress this point enough...

Had the fronts replaces with QFM's only really had some hard use at texi, rears have about 5000kms on them. But I'll have a look.

Anyone recommend some good track tyres, should I got cheap or pony up for some semi slicks?

If you guys are after a good street tyre that works on the track...

I used for the first time today the Falken rt615's at Oran Park GP.

Compared to my street tyres - AWESOME!!

Compared to my r888 semi's - not so awesome

Ok, the r888's heat up much quicker.....but go off much quicker than the 615's

I could do a few more laps each session before they would squirm, and they werent squirming much, I had to give up cause of my rotors...I warped em d'oh!!!!11ty

Frink - big up's for getting this happening for the ACT guys, I really appreciate it :P

Duncan will be there to jump in peoples cars also :P

As for car prep....

Fresh fluids...

*brake fluid

*engine oil

Check power steering, coolant etc

Fresh brake pads

Good tyres with tread

As a hint, we'll be scrutineering so the main things also to make sure everything is good

*engine bay

no leaks or anything, battery secured tightly (not by rags or cable ties LOL)

all hoses on good, the usual - common sense

*cabin

no loose items - everything out of the cabin that isnt needed. coins, pens, floor mats etc etc

This goes for boot also - get the spare out! (saves weight too = goes faster!! :) )

*outside

tyres in good condition, no panels falling off! brake lights work, wipers work, headlights work

*other

helmet - ADR approved and in good condition, long sleeved clothing all good

thats really it!

Shane - if your looking at doing more of our days - wakie, texi etc Id suggest to buy your own!

Can get a good one for around $100 and if you go go-karting, you can take it with you as well!

depends if you want to be able to use them on the road too. full slicks are surprisingly cheap as they are not road worthy. Powerplay imports are having a tyre sale atm, i recommend you check it out..... http://www.powerplayimports.com/

ill ask again on the day, but can i get a quick lap in your car as well as i missed out at texi

okay got the car in at Trojan on the 18th, so hopefully thats sorted. Now just gotta sort out the tires.

If you are taking up a set of wheels check out the link Frink posted slicks for $80 a pop, better than anything else you will get for $80 each.

Dang didn't notice them that cheap, wasn't showing up properly before, will ring tomorrow. Any Idea on which are the best out of that lot? Not complaining just there are a fair few the same price. Best to get semis or slicks if your a noob like me?
