And that was its first run. I am sure with even a slightly better 60' time it would run a 10 very easily. I wouldn't be surpised if it runs a mid to low 10 in the not to distant future.

would an ecu only void the warranty on the mechanicals?

Take a look at the Cobb system: http://www.cobbtuning.com/products/?id=3853

The AccessPort reprogramming device can flash new maps, which are downloadable from the Cobb website and have available updates as new maps come out for whatever modifications are made to the engine. The idea is that when you go to your dealer for covered warranty work, you hook up the AccessPort and flash back to OEM.

"Uninstall the AccessPORT from Vehicle:

The AccessPORT has the ability to easily remove its programming from the vehicle on which it is installed and return the ECU back to a stock state. To remove the AccessPORT from the vehicle and return it to a stock state, select “Uninstall” from the main menu."

These guys have been doing this for a long time. They are in the process of developing their own maps right now. Suggest taking a look at them when it comes time to play. Below is an idea how it works:

I keep thinking OZ is still in 'waiting mode'. I forget about the greys, but then it doesn't matter in that situation anyways, cause there is no warranty, eh?

I was @ WSID on Sunday. I assure you, the R35 has plenty left in it. The 11.1 was a piece of cake for this car. 10s in street trim shouldnt be a drama.

It is a sensational car.

Congrats to Haltech & Gas Motorsport.. :teehee:

1.782 60' ?

11.124 1/4 mile ?

They are only a little > a tenth of a second off a 10 second run. That 60 foot is almost a 1.8! I have a feeling it is possible to get 1.6 or 1.7 under ideal conditions...or just a few more runs. One lap 'only' before the ECU loses launch capability?

That is not the best run. Spray some VHT on the track, decrease some psi in the wheels, cooler air in late evening, better track prep, warm the tires better, or just a couple more shots = 10s. OMG sweet! It took me a year and a half to do that in my other car. There will come a point where the factory launch parameters will not be ideal for the increased TQ though. That will need to be addressed. Wish I was there to see how the wheels were turning at the launch.

Haha.biggrin.gif There are going to be more road crashes as people fail to realize how fast these numbers will translate when pushed on the street.

nah it's not registered yet. any plates you may or may not have seen are your mind playing tricks on you. They are just some show plates for looks at the track etc I think.

yeah it's pretty harsh isn't it. you go and spend 10s of thousands and years of work and agony to get your nice GTR or GTST running low 11s and then bamn, you head out on wednesday night to WSID and get absolutely smoked by an outwardly stock R35 running just a boost up ecu that pulls a 10.8 on it's regular 20inch road rubber. then whilst you are being defected on the way out for all the mods you have lovingly fitted the R35 driver rolls past without a care in the world.

all I can suggest boys is START SAVING!!!

Funny you should say that! about ten or twelve years ago i remember going for a drive in a gtst and thinking how nice it was but how i really wanted a gtr but couldnt afford it at it, i think import r32 gtr's were about mid forties back then. now i am a self confessed addict that will go without a meal(mind you by my body shape you wouldnt think so) to have gtr's!!

my wife hates me but my shed is full! haha !!

mine has refused to speak to me again until the car is sold and/or i promise to never race again.

haha, yep that is a nice deal!

and russ, you're a liar mate. we both know sarah is just as maybe even more pumped about the 35 than you are. you're a lucky devil mate. shame your kids now run around naked since you spent their clothing money on GTRs. i'm sure they will understand.... one day..... :)

    • Perhaps not as actual musical instrument. It does at least work the same areas of the brain, so it is close. I'm a frustrated guitarist. I have an '84 Ibanez Roadstar ii (RS430) that I bought in 1984 to play in my highschool band, The Animal Sons of Vegetable Mothers. We knew how to play 1 thing completely and about 20 things at ~10%. Was mostly an excuse to jam and f**k around. It's black on black, rosewood fretboard, Pro Rock'r bridge (which is a very good Floyd Rose tremolo system with locking at both ends of the string). It has spent the majority of the last 40 years stashed away. My daughter keeps threatening to steal it. She's in the middle of a classical guitar degree and has taught herself to play piano and bass in her spare seconds, which has already lead her to steal her ex-boyfriend's bass (and a lovely tube amp that I now have to replace all the tubes in to stop the dreadful noise it's currently making). So she has form in this area and needs to be watched - or at least the guitar needs to be watched! I might move it so she can't find it.
    • My 6 Point FIA harness have arrived (kinda). There was a mix up from the supplier and I ended up with 3" set rather than the 2" set. I contacted them and their customer service was top notch. It is being resolved and 2" ones will be on their way to be soon but in the mean time I was able to at least mock them up in the car to see the vibes. Need to organise some fixed back seats so i can actually use them as a 6 point. I am leaning towards the Velo Podium II XLs as I like the look of the bolstering compared to the GP90 XL or GPT2. The side and thigh bolstering on the GP90/GPT feels less that my existing Bride Digo R recliner. Velo Podium II XL Velo GP90 XL Velo GPT2
    • Yea I know the wiring would be fine just want to use I got. This was my first built engine and it blowing got me beat down just want to have it running right again but hopefully I can find a non vct head so I don’t have to do any of this lol.
    • Recently did the Perth Festival of Speed - and basically what we thought might be an average event turned out to be absolutely awesome they bought Mad Mike and Xtreme over and was good to see Perth get, support and produce something so good - 24,000 people in two days      It was nice to have it close to home for once yet have my whole crew there to run the car properly     Xtreme got the tin top laps record with 51.57    I hadnt done a hot lap on the home track for 20 months and finally everything clicked and dropped 4 secs off PB and did a 53.29 which is 3rd fastest tin top ever around that track. only 1.3 tenths behind 2nd so should eat that up soon... can I get Xtremes time - its not out of the question   Alll the blaa blaa's in the world but if I can replicate even close to that situation on other tracks will be able to make an impact     We got asked to do the hill climb to put on a show which in reality is just using some chicanes and the short track at barbs but good fun... launch control was put in and won the Pro class in that also.     Car needs some attention after being on it around Australia for last few months moreso the carbon underbody work and just a run through and clean up everything else seems to have held up good enough. Would like ,to take some weight out but that requires alot of effort 😁   Also waiting on new rules for WTAC and have some decisions to be made there and prob some minor modifications to suit pending class changes. Will see...   Divided on whether to go hard for one more year or chill out re: events this coming year prob more on the go hard and see if I can get improvements in times. If I didnt have so travel so far it would be less of an issue but I do so hmmm...   Also because build thread - gone to flappy paddles and a gearing change with a drop gear. It was becoming apparent that there were situations where I really needed to be hanging onto the wheel with both hands yet had to change gears and was getting a little sketchy and / or I just didnt change gears and delt with it and also 5th gear at 10,000 rpm is 290 kmph so I havent been using 6th as did 282 at WTAC and 274 in Perth drop gear will change to 6th being 300 at 10,000 rpm should also get a touch more acceleration speed
    • No, not really. Except that there are newer, better cam options that don't date back to the 90s. I was under the impression that you couldn't use VCT with them, which is why I said to get rid of them. If you can't/won't use VCT because of what you listed above, that's another matter. Although I would have said the wiring aspect of it was something that you should just suck up and do, as it isn't hard. Getting an actuator for the cam gear will possibly be expensive. I still say VCT is for the win. There's a reason HKS makes money selling it for 26s.
