Sorry off topic I know

But I have a question if someone can answer it for me.

Im from Queensland and I have a highly moded R33 up there and I was thinking of bringing it down to sa. But I have seen the cops pull over that many cars its not funny. My question is how bad are the cops down here for defects ?

yeah I know good point. Ok how about this have you ever been pulled over for a defect check damo ?

i have a few times, twice in one night once, and the first thing they say is pop ya bonnet, and just start looking for defects, i got done for a loose pod filter once.

Thanks damo. Thats what I wanted to hear.

Mine wont be a daily driver just every now and then kinda thing. Be lucky to come out once every 2-3 weeks or if a cruise is on

Brisbane is the same, if you dont hit the hot spots your normally ok

Might have to put it on a truck and get it down here soon

yeh i got a bracket for my pod, bolted up now! as long as your engine bay doesnt have any standout parts like chrome plenum, exposed BOV etc, and its not rediculously low, you should be ok

Ive been pulled over many a time.. but I never got the car defected. Had warnings etc though. Luke was driving it, 1 week after I got it, and we were pulled over and defected. I tried to reason with the cop, saying it was my car but nup.. Said only had it a week, was exactly how i bought it, but nup.

Got pulled over twice in like 4 days not long ago. First one was nice, said he was a rev head and such, gave me warning bout my plates. 2nd said my car was nice, seen it around, did a breath test n let me go.

Got my lancer defected - pleaded innocent, acted like a total dumb ass, put on the tears.. but that didnt work.

2nd defect, on the line.. went ballistic.. called the cop a wanker, slammed the door, walked off, nup that tactic didnt work either lol

yeah that way doesn't usually end in your favour

I've only ever had 2 defects, both cop shops. One was my old KE55, just bought some rims off a mate and he had been doing skids in his shed on them, so the rear tyres were cactus. Had tyres lined up the next day and got pulled over on my way to the shop :D

Second was my Sprinter, done for hand brake not locking on and no horn button :) not a bad result I thought, seeing as the copper missed the 4AG conversion, cable ties everywhere, no carpet/sound deadening/rear trim :P

Only ever been defected twice for BS things:

First time, a few years ago with my SR20 powered, supercharged Datsun 200B. I had an Engineers Report to prove the legality of the car, but 'no' the two traffic cops wanted to defect me regardless. They only ended up getting me for tyres, which had no less than 80% tread, but they claimed the rubber was scrubbing the radius rod. BS! Went straight to the cop shop and had it taken off and dismissed without any charges or fees. :)

Second one, 2 years ago a traffic cop defected my Suzuki TLR motorbike for indicators less than 24cm apart (they were actually 32cm apart!). I argued with this prick for 10 minutes. Ended up going to Regency (for indicators!) and even the inspector thought the cop was a knob. Removed the defect ... again without any charge or fees.

It was funny considering I have a full Yoshimure race system on the bike and its loud as hell, and many other mods he could have gotten me for. But he had no clue and could only get me for indicators! :) Even then he made that up.

Oh, and I get pulled over all the time on the motorbikes! Comes with the territory I guess ... being an outlaw on wheels :)
