Hi guys,

just thought i would shear with you my exsperance with a High performance work shop i just used to get some work done to my R31.

shop was RE customs in springvale vic.

i had a manual convertion and dyno tune done. (118.6 rwkw now.)

now all went fine apart from the following points.

car was recived in a very dirty state, had greasy finger prints all over it and even scratched.

indicators in all capacity (inc hazards) are now not working. ray spent 1.5h on the prob with a few of the boys and

couldn't figure it out so its off to the auto elec when i get home.

im not bagging them out im just saying that thier were a few points that required a little look at.

If you are not bagging them and Ray by all accounts has tried to address the problem, why post it up on here? You may not be satisfied but that is an issue you should be raising with R.e not airing on a public forum to people who don't know the full story.

This will no doubt be locked shortly anyway.

The car was booked in for a transmission change over and dyno tune. Your car came to us on a tow truck covered in scratches and not exactly looking the cleanest. RE complete the required work on your vehicle (transmission change over and dyno tune.). Your indicators not working was not something that you booked your vehicle in for nor was it something that was required to be checked over whilst it was with us.

I'm sorry you weren't happy with the service that was provided to you.

This is a public forum so people should be allow to express/voice their concerns, interest.......but i guess to a certain extend. Some choose to not speak out, others want to araise the issues so other members can be aware which i guess is also a good thing.

Its up to you whether you want to believe what Brenton said or not.

So basically your happy with the work done on the car that was requested. The box install and tune. But unhappy that RE didn't wash your car and fix your electrical issues that weren't part of the work?

I think this would have been something to discuss with RE Customs BEFORE posting up on the forums.

Fear Ash's admin powahs........

    • I was more thinking so it doesn't flop around as much rather than for rotating it. Once you have the balance right, it should rotate well enough, depending on how much resistance there is on the pivot. I think you said the pivot point was on a bearing though didn't you?
    • You can get them with the worm drive rotator but I was too tight to pay another $250-$300 so manual labour it is! I don't think it will be too hard to rotate though.
    • Sag as in the windows start to slowly open themselves, or they're just slow to go up/down with engine off?
    • It looks like it needs a big worm gear drive on it to control the rotating, not a few sloppy pins!
    • As Duncan said, first there was OBD, which few cars used, then came OBD2.   Now an interesting point, OBD2 isn't even for what you want to do. OBD2 is for emissions testing. There is some sensor data on OBD2, but it's up to the manufacturer what they're putting on it. Most scan tools operate on UDS, which like OBD2 is a standard built on-top of CAN. UDS specifies how to structure a message, what very limited things mean such as "read memory address" but it does not specify what is stored in which memory address, that is all up to the manufacturer. You either a scan tool compatible with that vehicle, or to know how to reverse engineer all the data, which can take a VERY long time and a lot of vehicles to get it right. Oh and then the manufacturer does a firmware update and changes what's where... Ask me how I know that as fact Oh, and by the time you've got the scan tool that supports all the manufacturers stuff, well, you're back at "But a consult cable and the Nissan software" The main difference being most manufacturers software these days works with the same hardware readers, as the readers are built to support J2534 which is another standard for how the PC communicates with the tool to make it do specific things on the car...
