the only thing i would get the shop to do would be the timing belt

if you stuff that up the your screwed.

best to get a shop to do it, then if they stuff it up you can get the money out of them to fix it etc

all the other stuff like plugs, oil and filters and liquids are easily done at home.

yeah, thats what i was thinking, get someone that knows how to do the timing belt and bearings from here(there has to be someone on sauwa that knows how) then all the fluids and leads, plugs and so on ill do myself...

Please help!!

For a 100buks they would want to know a r34 off the back of there hands and quick at it 2!!! Takes a while to strip it down, align and wack it bak 2getha!!

well whats reasonable then, come on, anyone??

Ask again next year... Hopefully I'd have learnt how to do it! Offer about $50 an hour or something. At work we charge $85+, so its not bad for you or the guy whos doing it. Having said that, if a shop does stuff it up, they'll have to pay for the damage, although I doubt it'd happen.

Good luck!

i need the service too Guy so maybe if we can do a bargain with someone and get it done at the same time eh...

let me know what you think dude, and don't be slack and come out to the 1st of June cruise, haven't seen you in ages

Sorry dude, been under heaps of stress lately eh,got my car off the road, got my g/f's birthday, car still minus a bodykit, need this service done, need to take it over the pits again, in debt up to my ass, got the sack last week... you know how it is, kinda in a hole atm and struggling to get out of it... ill come on this cruise on one conditions... one i get to ride shotgun with ya, two, we take turns in driving, and dont worry i will let you drive mine when its finally back on the road, that is if i dont have to get rid of it by then...

But yeah back on topic, can someone tell me what shop is good for the service, ill ring around and see what i can do about getting two done at the same time, see what prices they come up with...

Cheers guys

You already know everyone is going to refer you to the consolidated workshop thread so why even bother asking man..

Mind you, I'm doing mine in 2 weeks at Autobahn Mandurah, since Fabs works there now and he's a great bloke.

not ripping into anyone here at all ok, but

I have seen and read threads with ppl saying just ask on forums first to see if anyone can do it before going to a shop for many cases of things... so i figured i'd ask ya know...

but either way, looks like im going to a shop!!

Let me put it this way, if you want a performance shop to do the work such as Hyperdrive your looking at roughly $1200 for an 100k service, if you go to a place such as Automasters (Malaga) since i work there you looking at roughly $400 for the timing belt, and if you worried about quality, provide your own materials, gates timing belt and your own oils thats gonna save you a lot of $$$. but don't get me wrong, Hyperdrive do a good job.... if u got the cash!!

Talk to Andrew(fei-sti rex) about Automasters if ur interested, he's had experience with my boss(Warren).

yeah, Warren's a top bloke...

give it a shot, i might have to go to 101 seeing as though they know my car back to front and when they imported it 8,000km's ago they changed heaps of stuff over so i think all i need to do is the belt, i owe Danny $100 too

anyway, let us know how it goes Guy

Just an idea - one of the guys had the service done on his S2 stagea by throwing a BBQ and getting all the parts, if you can find enough (knowledgable) people to dig in, it is easily done on a sunday afternoon with a couple of mates. There is no rocket science to it, and if you follow any of the step by step guides on here its pretty hard to stuff up.

i know a few of us guys need to get our 100k service done...

so how about this BBQ thingo?

the guys that need it done can pitch in for parts so it ends up being ALOT cheaper for materials...

labour is free and in return the guys getting the service done can provide lunch, somewhere at a nice park with BBQ and drinks?

have a cruise to the BBQ and get the service done there in broad daylight?

the more people means more knowledge, less things can go wrong and we can get the cars done at the same time so it's like scheduled...

that's an awesome idea Dale and whoever had the Stagea to come up with that, brilliant idea!

Andrew

Well, if you do decide to organise it, you can count me in to get in there and swing some spanners.

*EDIT*

Um, just one thing to consider though - 100K service usually includes most, if not all, fluids being dumped so maybe a public carpark wouldn't be the best place to do this?
