I wouldnt try it the cut and shut way. Just isnt a safe method.

I have 2 face GTN's love the look but wanted more lip. Have custom outer rims being made up now. Then there off to a workshop to bolt them together and balance. Will put up a result once its done. going from a 9.5 to a 12' with about 4.5" of lip.

Cheers,

If you dont mind me asking, how much is it going to cost per wheel ?

Can this be done with ROH Modenas ???

its perfectly normal to do this to a 2 or 3 peice rim

alot of people say its unsafe etc etc and at the same time these guys have no idea and are just talking shit

simmons build wheels this way and they are far from dodgy

i did my AMEs by replacing the outer rims on the rear making them 10.5" wide with a -5 offset

they are perfect

ozwheel Australia are the guys to do the job

sorry, but im actually not talking shit, and im sure if u had any idea urself ud realise that 2pce wheels mean the disk and the barrel are separate pieces, this means the barrel/rim is ONE PIECE, so without a cut and shut job it is impossible to change the width. but i guess if u knew this u probably wouldnt have talked about simmons who actually specialise in 3pce wheels where the barrel is actually 2 pieces.

AFAIK simmons do not cut and shut, they create a rim section just like every other wheel manufacturer does.

i know the guy who does the simmons wheels yea he makes new inners and outers from scratch

i also know a supplier who makes barrels for two peice rims(inner and outer is one peice so all you need is to drop your centre in

some 3 peice wheels also have a weld joining the inner and outer together not just bolts (ie: AMEs)

i know what im talking about because ive gone through all the shit to get my AMEs widened

FFS, remove barrel from 2 pc wheel and throw it in the bin then bolt on wider barrel onto exhisting centre. thus making them wider.

No cutting and welding required. Not that difficult a concept to grasp :)

i know my AMEs are 3 piece i stripped them before i sent them to the wheel repairer

as i said earlier i have a supplier for both two and one piece dishes

so there is no need to cut and shut

haha then ur not actually widening the rim section, ur getting a new one all together. but yeh i understand what ur saying.

there's a local place i go to in sydney that can have it done if anyone is interested. theyve told me that the best results are to buy some old ford/holden trims that fit the PCD of the car and they'd chop off the old outer half, replace with a new, wider (more than often) outer rim and they can lso readjust the centre piece to alter the offsets as well. they reckon its pretty safe with those rims but probs would really recommend going stupidly overboard trying to bring a 16x6 rim to upgrade to a 16x10 size with -20 offset (yep ive asked them and they wont do it for me hahha)

    • Looking for a S2 front grill for an R34 GT/GTT Doesn’t have to be in excellent condition as I’m looking to paint it. Would preferred if the clips were around.    The $500 this marketplace guy is asking sounds ridiculous in my opinion.
    • Nah, just take the other one off too
    • A mini mini-gun.
    • Oh yeah forgot to also mention need to also unplug the IACV as well. Thanks for the reminder @MBS206 Unplugging the TPS takes it out of closed loop so you're able to screw down the IACV without the ECU trying to add/subtract timing to maintain the idle (not sure PowerFC can even do this, but Nistune and the OEM definitely does)
    • For sale is my 1999 Nissan Skyline R34 GT-T, tuned to 234 kW / 313 hp. I've had the car for a few years as my daily driver. The car is original (as far as Skylines go), with only a few minor upgrades to enhance performance and driving experience, as typical for such a car of its age. Overall, it is in great condition with no body rust, thanks to its earlier import date. It features a top-notch security system (not literally, but it's great!) with remote start and still functional 4-wheel steering via HICAS. It comes with several performance and handling upgrades, including:     Hypergear 450HP Turbocharger running 17 PSI boost, installed mid-2021 by Jaustech     550cc injectors     Nistune ECU     Front-Mount Return-Flow Intercooler     X-Force Stainless Steel Exhaust     Upgraded engine mounts     Bottom end bearings replaced     BC Coilovers     Lenso DR1 rims     Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE003 TL 245/40R18 97W tires, fitted early 2023 The interior is mostly stock, with a few additions:     Viper Satellite Tracking System with remote start     Bluetooth Double-Din Touchscreen Head Unit     Steering wheel cover Cons:     A few paint imperfections here and there     Driver’s seat shows more wear than the others. It's not torn at all, but I've added a seat cover to protect its condition. I also have a CarVX Vehicle History report available for serious buyers, so you don’t need to purchase it yourself. Price: $26,000 ONO.
