Comments: I imported this from Spal USA 4 months ago to help remove drag from my engine and gain full control over fan speed. I also couldn't bring myself to pay close to Aus retail prices ($400!). Wiring is simple with the temp sensing wire connected to your factory engine temp sensor. All you need to do is set a minimum and maxiumum tempurature range. Then the controller does the rest. It slowly ramps up the fan speed as you approach your max temp setting. Under idle and normal conditions on my R32 GTR the fan noise was barely noticable. Only under 40deg conditions did it reach full speed and it kept water temps lower than with my factory clutch fan. Going back to standard to sell my car.

just wondering how do u set min and max temps?

also on the spal site it says that it has an indicator on when it is turned on... is this shown in cabin or only on the control unit?

The controller has hi and low buttons as well as LEDS. You wire the controller up with Ground, 12V, switched 12V (Ignition) and your factory temp sensor wire. Then you simply turn the car on with the fan unplugged, wait for the temp to get to minimum, hit the low button, then wait for the temp to get to maximum, then hit the high button. Turn car off, plug fan in and your ready. There is no remote LED supplied, if you know some basic electronics you could wire one in.

By removing the stock clutch fan did you notice any difference to car performance?

did it add alot more weight over the stock item?

Hi Rob,

I don't have any hard evidence of how much it improves performance. Under normal temps i would say there's nothing in it. But there is this... i think everyone familiar with their skyline will admit they can feel the difference in hot weather when their factory clutch fan goes full speed. Acceleration is sluggish... this fan eliminated that feeling altogether in hot weather.

Weight is not an issue, it weighs 5lbs and that's about the same as the clutch fan.
