No probs , I have done it,haha maybe too many times, I did it again today :(

I do search for threads but some of them are so old and with new tech and products I did not use them but I see that you can and someone will join in and the thread gets going again :)

Call or e-mail Rob at rips racing.....he has good advice and could build you what you want easily....he's just finished a car for canada.

Thanks , I heard they are very good but in the too hard basket for me , NZ.

I find CRD easy to get along with and always do what they say and I just drop the car off and pick it up , too easy :)

BC 2.9ltr stroker and type R poncams will make a world of difference to your car ,I have fitted the RB30 block to my R34 and would never do it again or recommend anyone else to do it but the torque that comes with it is just awesome just doesn't fit how i would like it to, but I'm just fussy, the BC kit goes into your factory block so everything bolts straight in

Too hard basket? I guess if picking up the phone or typing an email is hard then yeah it is pretty hard.

haha , no mate, getting the motor to NZ is the hard basket and the time it will take. I live in the bush not Sydney and most things are a pain when you want work done on your car here, there in no one to do it. I can get a service and that is about it :(

You used the RB30 Block, did you have the 3.2Lt stroker kit. What was it you did not like about the torque , did you loose top end power?. I thought you would also get some top end power from it?

What do you do with your car, track/drag ??

Trouble is I have this in my head now as I made my mind up to do it, so the RB30 block and Nitto 3.2Lt Stroker is going in, I am sure what I want from the work but when I get it I might have to live with it :)

The plan is if the car drives the way I want it I will sell the 350GT.

Cheers

The problem is the amount of custom work required to make them fit is a pain in the ass and not cheap if your paying someone to do it

This, plus its to close to the bonnet and I lowered the subframe 8mm, I have twin GT-RSs factory mount and can not put the factory strut brace on cause it hits the TT pipe, if you have a high mount 6262 you will have this issue and probably bonnet

I love the torque, its the fit I'm not impressed with, top end power is 623hp/458kw at all 4 @28psi and still 3.0ltr

It's an all rounder, street drag track whatever is going :D, mostly track though

The RB30 block is a PITA and not worth the effort

Mmmmmm, food for thought, you have given me a few questions to ask the shop. The bonnet problems worries me more than anything as I built a system under it to be able to drive in the rain without the water going all over the motor through the vents.

Once you went to the trouble and had RB30 block installed , why turf it once the hard work was done?

Sounds like plenty of grunt to do whatever you wanted.

What is a PITA ? Is the Nitto RB30 block badly engineered???

This is the sort of info I was after, thanks :)

I am going to see what they say about the height issue, maybe they have a method that works for them as they would have fitted them before. They usually tell me if what I want causes a problem , so I will wait to hear back from them.

Apart from the height issue, what you have said makes me want it even more

I could slow your car down and get it into the 13s, I would drive it :woot:

I will stop being a PITA for the rest of the night  well try ?

Serious thanks :action-smiley-069:

Huh, call Rob, ask for motor, you pay, he sends, you receive.

I have just emailed him to see what he has to offer.

I do not understand, I buy a complete motor from them or the same as I am going to get here, what do I do with it when I get it?

What do I do with my motor.

Sure sounds messy to me , I do not live in Sydney I live in the bush.

Guess I will wait until I get a response from Rob

Here, I drop the car off and go back when it is finished, and then pay, all to easy :) Anything goes wrong with it they are in Sydney not NZ

If you build a NITTO 3.2, you'll have your bottom end left over anyway.

I know but the car will be with my mechanic and someone will have to do the work if I get something from NZ.

My bloke might also find someone to buy the leftovers? I do not want to chart it around.

I am still not sure what happens, is it a full motor or just the same parts my mechanic will order????

It will be interesting to get a quote and find out exactly what I would get

If you buy from Rips he will do whatever you want from a short block to a fully functional engine or anywhere in between. if you get the short block you can get it shipped to your mechanic and then drop your car off to him and then sell off the left over parts later.

Will Spool imports supply you a ready built 3.2 short block with awd sump?

Hi Brett

It seems there are a few problems doing the stroker but if you could do it without the hassle, would you????

I am lucky I can afford to have the work done, drop the car off and pick it up , hassle free :)

Imagine if you can lifting the head on your car 38mm, that is the problem with the RB30 block, the high deck setup lifts it 20mm, the BC kit leaves it where it is

BC kit 2.9ltr

RIPs is 3ltrs

Nitto is 3.2ltrs

The BC and type R poncams is the best option for what you want alround, but wait and see what Jim wants to tell you ( 3.2ltr kit as he is part owner of Nitto iirc ) and get a costing for it

Then contact Power Tune and get a costing for the BC kit, by the you will have a price from Rob so you can better decide what to do
