Hi all,

I'm starting to plan a full exhaust upgrade for my R34 GTT 4 door. I've been looking around a bit and reading up on the forum and I've decided to go with a set-up thats not too loud but has a nice note under acceleration. For the cat-back im thinking either the HKS Hi-Power Silent or Trust Power Extreme 2? These two seem to be quite popular. Whats the best way to pick one up? Since my cars a 4 door will i have to get a 4 door specific kit?

For the cat i was just thinking of going with a catco metal cat, seems decent for the price - open to suggestions here though.

As for the dump/front pipe I'm not sure what to go with, so if anyone wants to make some suggestions please go ahead. There doesn't seem to be many options available for 34's.

I've heard that Batmbl has some good stainless dumps, can anyone confirm?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Justin

yes you will need a 4door specific ehxaust system, or ull have to get one custom made.

the trust is a pussy exhaust, sounds like a girl IMHO.

its also a 80mm exhaust with a 115mmtip

the HKS on the otherhand is okai exhaust, my only problem with it is that it sounds like a wet fart on accell. and isnt very aggresive

both exhaust are really quiet and sound "so-so" on boost.

hks is also slightly bigger in diameter compared to the trust. with a 85mm system and a 120mm tip.

i highly recommend a Blitz Nur Spec exhaust system. because it honestly sounds alot better then the rest more aggresive but is alot louder (positive or negatice you be the judge).

catco cats are great and you can get them from batmbl and he does great prices. his front/dump pipes are awsome and are 3". by getting a 3" catco cat and any of the above catbacks youll work wonders.

but like i said i wouldnt pick either the trust or hks catbacks due tot he fact that they both sounds weak. but alot of ppl swear by them so you can be the judge.

HKS =

TRUST =

BLITZ = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_u1o04qCdKw

i have no idea if they are turbo back systems or not, but obviously if they were they would be even louder.

any issues buddy shoot just holla.

considering most A31 C33 R32 2 and 4 door cars share the same fire wall and floor pan

the R34 2 and 4 door and stagea share the same firewall and floor pan to behind the rear axle

the optimum zorst is one with least restriction....i.e Drain pipe

Well it seems as though everyone has a very different opinion on the HKS, at least it definately says that it has a 4 door kit lol. How much louder will the non-silent be? Are cops gonna fist me for it? I'm struggling enough as it is in the defect stakes with a atmospheric BOV and an unboxed pod lol

kakimoto is good but too quiet IMO. If you want to show abit of aggressiveness you will need atleast a HKS silent or even better a HKS non silent :D

Well it is much louder than the silent, but its not as loud for the cops to hassle with you IMO. better find out for urself i guess :D

My mate had the silent HKS one on and it gives a very nice loud sound when on full throttle, however is quiet enough to keep you away from cops or to wake up ur neighbourhood whilst just cruising down the street so its quite perfect.

my advice is to get a BATMBL / bos importing split dump for ER34

then goto a local exhaust shop and say give me a 3" catback system and install this front/dump pipe combo

that way, they fit a system to suit the 4 door chassis, as they just custom fabricate a 3" system

and you get the best dump/front combo as its a local supported developed pipe

the cost shouldnt be too much, i would expect around $750 for the 3" catback system fitted and supplied, muffler etc and then maybe $80 to fit the front / dump pipe

I checked out the Blitz, but my main concern was whether it was available for 4 doors or not which it didnt appear to be. Ill have to check out the Apexi one.

Are there any good exhaust manufacturers around Brissy? Would jap gear be better quality?

Thanks for your interest guys

kakimoto is good but too quiet IMO. If you want to show abit of aggressiveness you will need atleast a HKS silent or even better a HKS non silent

'

are u serious? u must be talkn about some diff type of kakimoto because the only ones on sale atm are the mega n1 and the Regu 06 & R. and both are 3.5" exhausts with a 6 or 7" tip. that thing is a monster.

i still rkn HKS silent sounds like a girl......dosnt have that note i like.

the HKS Hi POwer is another story, very very nice exhaust BUT is in mild steel which we all know isnt that great compared to stainless.

what about blitz nur spec and silencer ??

or nur spec and exhaust control valve ?? does it work ?? its only 250 fitted in elite racing ??

what do you think about that ??

asking cause im also putting new exhaust system

ive got the Blitz Nur system on my car.......ill get a good recording up on youtube to let u know how it sounds. i honestly rkn its better then any exhaust ive heard.

the kit comes with a silencer and is very quiet wen put in.....makes it sound like a HKS silent system.....which i hate......

just youtube it ppl, youll get a general idea of wat each exhaust sounds like.

    • Just install a grease nipple into the centre of the outer steel of the FUCA. Make sure the bushes aren't long enough to touch each other underneath that nipple. Cut a few mm off each if need be. Then you can push grease in there while it is all assembled. That was the very first thing I did (to all 4 ends) of the FUCAs on my 32 when I put Whiteline adjustable bushes into them. They would squeeze the grease out real fast, and I could squeeze it back in faster.
    • @GTSBoy I found the issue (sort of) when I took apart the bushing again, it was completely dry inside! When I experimented with it, all the grease would push out when I would compress the bushings. I wonder if this has anything to do with me putting in the poly bush first on both sides and then pushing in the metal barrel. Maybe I should have put in the metal barrel first then the rubber bushings so the spread pattern is different.   It's fixed (for now).
    • Just redid that entire job. 4 hours, but tightened everything properly. Had to jack the rotor instead of having the car on blocks as there was no room for the FUCA arms to tighten and the j arm. All good now. Cheers for the help!
    • I would sell those side feeds before you hydra-lock a motor. I won't say too much about Yellow Jackets because I'll hurt people's feelings, however ask those that tune RBs day in/out what they think of them.
    • The 1000ccs are side feeds but they're not currently installed, had my old factory ones in for leak testing purposes, only decided on them because front facing plenums and good top feed rail kits are out of my budget at the moment, are they really that problematic? Had a set of yellow jackets that lasted me 5 years, no real issues, only replaced them chasing this misfire issue that ended up not being ignition related 😄
