I just noticed a similar thread on the 300ZX forums with the idea of organising a group buy.

Although the jack which I consider the best (OME29023) cannot be bought locally, if there is enough interest we may be able to get them shipped.

Yes it does bring up the question about not meeting AS standards, keep in mind that Australia standards must support 3 times the rated limit, thus making it very hard to get approval.

See wot u can do  im sure i could get a few off the 300zx forums to make up some numbers

Not sure what you want me to do? I'm keen to either keep looking or go with the imported omega but it depends on numbers.

maybe the omega or that AC low profile jack i put a link to is the go. The exchange rates are favorable at the moment to get one from the US.

I'll buy one that is low enough to reach under the front cross member....

I finally bought myself a new jack on the weekend, way too many years using a K-Mart $10 special.

It cost me $260 (normally $299 but I bought $1300 worth of stuff) from GasWeld and is 16.1kg. It is not super low and doesnt have 1 of those little quck pump levers but it does fit everywhere I need it to and is a million times better than what I had before.

Yes it is 1200kg (since when do you lift an entire car from a jack, usually its front or back only then place stands under it immediately).

90mm lowered

450mm raised.

On my standard wheel/suspension r32 gtr it wont fit under the front lip because the base of the handle wont slide under but if I roll the car up onto a 25mm block of timber its totally fine.

As I said their is certainly better out there (maybe more than $299 though) however in the end it only cost me about $150 so im very happy.

No worries, go and buy $1300 worth of stuff and haggle a 10% discount as I did, then claim it as a business expense (which it is for me) and the $300 shelf price suddenly drops to a more attractive price.

Its a good jack but just keep an eye on the castor wheel bearings ( and hold on to the receipt ). Have seen 2 bearing failures with this jack. Maybe ( hopefully ) this is a newer/better version than the ones I've seen.
