i had a look around and see a lot of oil forums but one on the N/A section and though i need to hear how everyones oil are going in there cars because there isnt anything new on engine oils here.

i brought Red line 10w40 high performance, all synthetic oil

apparently this does wonders

brought it for the new engine going in with about 50000km on it

spent $121 on 4.7liters because the bottles are in gallons (PFFH) haha

whats eveyone elses view on these top oils like royal purple and bla bla elf and yeh all that?

and what are hopeless fake oils?? :D

cheers, Andrew

well im ing Nulon 10-40 fully synthetic and im glad i used it..... i won 5 litres last year at extreme horsepower for winning the 6 cylinder naturally aspirated dyno class.

i had heaps of people tell me not to use fully synthetic in a non turbo...but she has due for an oil change back in feb i think it was, and the oil is still see through now, starting to get a little bit dark. however if i had been using the :"normal" oil it would be as black as black by now and id probably be thinking of doing another oil chnge before it gets to the stage where it is so thin that it makes my oil pressure drop.

but yeah thats my 2 cents on what i use, im really happy with it and the car loves it......so im gonna keep using it :D

that's generally based on a cost benefit factor. turbo's should use synthetic because they are sometimes oil cooled and the heat to cool cycle degrades the oil faster.

to the OP: that said it depends on your application. if you are cruising around a semi synthetic (dare i say natural) will be fine provided you keep using the same oil for your subsequent services. if you do a bit of dyno or track work like cara, myself and a few others then synthetic would be the way to go!!

royal purple, elf, motul, take your pick.

personally i run motul

O ok i saw the nulon at the shop yesterday and it would have been my 2nd choice :)

i picked redline because lots of turbos are using it and i was thinking being N/A it will be like giving it a treat and the best thing for it, the guy at burson said i should use fully synthetic for the engines life now because mineral mixtures wont do the job after fully synthetics????

yeh reading the label it last for 30,000km and can oil a jet turbine so im expecting my pistions to be 100% ;) haha

i also heard the RB30de/t

jets blocked oil gallery's a lot so the oils there would be a fair bit of a important thinggg ???

anyways off to work now

cheers, Andrew

personally i would use redline products for my transmission fluids.

regardless NAs won't be as fussy with oil as the turbo models... just make sure you find some nice quality one and don't mix and match. service them regularly and you should have no problems.

always keep in mind that these are 13-15 year old cars and yet we drive them like they had just come off the show room floor

i use Nulon 15w-50 street and track high performance in the excel

usually about $50 for 5L - i only need 3.3L so i use 2 bottles for 3 oil changes

works well - oil is nicer colour after more and more oil changes as its cleaning more and more crap out...

i dont burn as much oil as i used when i was on Penrite15

something semi-synthetic/synthetic 5w-30 to 15w-50 should be fine for a n/a skyline

Fuchs Titan Super GTO

Nulon High Tech Fast Flowing

Nulon Street and Track High Performance

Castrol EDGE Sport 5w-30 or 10w-60

Castrol GTX3

Penrite HPR15 or HPR10

Penrite Sin10 or Sin15

Motul 4100 Turbolight

Motul 300V Power

Elf Competition GT 15w-50 or 10w-30

Elf Super Sporti XP 15w-40

thats all i can think of atm....

it also depends on the age of the engine - older, then a slightly heavier oil, newer, then a thinner oil

hmm thats the next oil for me for my manual gear box

apparently its 3.8 liters

but with the whole GTS4 thing i looked and there are about 3 topics on it in transmissions and they are all totaly different

does anyone know what type of gear box i have? simple GTS one? and any stats on it if its not the simple GTS one?

but being AWD i am pretty sure i have a transfer case.

should sit about 2/3 up

and 1/3 is usually what it stays at for the first 5min in the morning, just because thats life and oil is thicker till the engine warms its self.

what specifically did you want to know but?

mobile 1 is good and so are iridiums, yeh being skylines they kill any spark plug faster than most cars so

looks like we are spoiling our cars :)
