I bought a 96 GST and the boy threw a new brand supsoedly HKS ball bearing turbo. But Garrett says the turbo inlet, a bit 'on a plate and the entire side of the turbo Garrett says that I called and was like WTF, because even if he gave me a receipt saying HKS 1104RM006US and the total was $ 1335.37 and the poor god damned if I see a post HKS turbocharger and hes like oh Garrett HKS makes shares.

Hi Yoda, welcome to SAU.

Can you please explain what you are actually trying to say?

I gather you are trying to say your skyline came with a HKS turbo, which you found to have GARRETT markings. This is fairly normal however the tag ID no and markings from the front and rear housings would help us determine what turbo you have.

Cheers,

You shot who in the what ?

You shot who in the what?

OK, Smithers, you're free to go. And you...one question. Do you know who shot Mr. Burns? Cause we are really up the creek on this one...

The old HKS VS Garrett arguement.

It really is a mixed bag.

Have a look at the -5 vs 2530 results.... There are some cracking results out there with the -5's. Gav from WA, Tangomatt from Vic are brilliant examples of the 'inferior' garretts can do. There are arguements for both sides. Rob from RIPS in NZ only uses the Garretts and look at the numbers he is ripping out of those things!

I think it comes down to not just the huffer hanging off the side of your engine but the package. Headwork, cams, turbo size, exhaust size.... You cant just whack a 'big brand' turbo on and expect X,Y and Z.
