lol.. no cats is a bit far... like i actually rekon cats are good for the environment yada yada, but some of the b/s laws like p plater curfews etc is stupid... the meaning of 'child' seems to add a year in age every year :P hopefully im not sitting on the line where eahc year im still a child for the rest of my life :(

all australia seems to hav strict rules, xcept for NT but lets face it no one goes there just for a car. NZ seems bout right i think, no import tax AT ALL, evos, skylines, silvias everywhere, no revenue raising. i mite actualy book a holiday ova there for a month at the end of next yr to scope it out.

fark melbourne i am considering moving to QLD soon!

yup.. nice one :P same hopefully .. haha, and when i do u can bet i'll be sending a nice little letter to Mr Bracks when i leave, letting him know my feelings on the whole thing and ****ed up he has made driving in this state..

yup a cat sucks power.. hiflow cat will give u some of it back though.

Actually.. if the government did not collect its target of $427million in traffic revenue, the state government would be in defecit.

Current estimated budget for this year...

a substantial budget operating surplus of $245 million for 2003-04

Look where the increase are:

Motor vehicle taxes ($M)

==============

2002-03.... 2003-04....%inc

Vehicle registration fees 503.0 573.5 14.0%

Stamp duty on vehicle transfers 496.9 517.3 4.1%

Other motor vehicle taxes 100.7 113.3 12.5%

Other taxes, licences and levies 59.0 64.1 8.6%

====

total 9,345.6 9,593.2 2.6%

and of course...

Revenue from fines, which is expected to increase by $101 million (26.5 per cent) in 2003-04, is mainly derived from revenue related to traffic offences. This includes revenue from traffic infringement notices, the operations of the Traffic Camera Office and from payment of penalties imposed by the courts.

Fines revenue is expected to increase due to the next stage of road safety initiatives coming on-line. These initiatives include flash-less, fixed site and point-to-point camera technology that will be installed at identified danger areas. Fines revenue will also increase as a result of the indexation of some fines set by

regulation from 1 July 2003.

and

Police fines:

2002-03 year: $326.6M

2003-04 target: $427.5M (30.9% increase)

So take away the fines, and basically Victoria is not doing too well afterall under Bracks

Its all here... www.budget.vic.gov.au /// tell your friends, get angry, do something about it! :P

Basically the way I see it the Government is illegitamately supporting itself through taking unreasonable measures while pretending to enforce "public safety" when its really only the bottom dollar they care about.

    • Hey @Butters, did you end up getting this clutch in ? I have just ordered to a uniclutch track to go in my getrag 6 speed that’s in my BNR 32
    • I know you don't want to hear this comment, but I can't not say it.  I just can't see 200kw being worth the time and effort. Its like guys with NA cars, putting in headers/exhaust/tune for a massive 20% jump in power. Great, the slow car is still slow and you're down $10,000.  My vote is leave it NA or price in a gearbox upgrade and shoot for at least 300KW, preferably 350KW+.  Now you have a NC that will try to kill you from time to time and will be exciting to drive
    • Ah yep. The main message I want to pass on is, try not to get scared of ghosts when thinking about knock/knock detection.  What I mean is, healthy engines make noise. Knock is also noise. Your knock sensor and ECU combo are trying to determine bad noise from good noise based on how loud the noise is. The factory knock sensors and ECU are not good at doing this.  Modern ECU's are pretty decent at it, however I'd still say that you would want to verify that if your ECU says it's knock, that you actually listen to it and confirm that it is correct.  Are you familiar with the plex knock monitor?  https://www.plex-tuning.com/products/plex-knock-monitor-v3/ I expect you're the type of person that would be very keen to play with something like this. It is great knock detection and you can pop some headphones on and listen to what's going on.  Knock that you've deliberately induced in low load low RPM areas is not really putting anything at risk and is a great tuning/learning/verification tool.  I just thought this was worth mentioning based on the way you were talking about setting up a base map and the Haltech base map settings. There are better ways to spend your time then chasing ghosts and worrying about detonation in scenarios that it is crazy unlikely to encounter it.  I was also wondering, what ECU are you planning to get? Will it be long til you pick it up?
    • This came quicker than I thought. It ain't even 2025 yet.
    • I somehow quoted my post instead of editing it. I regret nothing.
