hey all i just got a quote for a clutch, supply and install, from a reputable northern suburbs workshop.

its for an r32, i asked for an HD one and the guy i spoke to quoted $745

i asked him what brand they use, and he said,

for that one, they make their own clutch kit up with parts from extreme amoung others,

so i said whats it rated to, he asked me is it for a gtr or gts, so i told him its for a gts-t and his response was oh should hold 250, up to 300, as long as you drive normal.

so what do you guys think does this sound right

or should i buy one off slide (HD 240rwkw) and get them to fit that one??

atm my cars pretty stock but i want to have the abillity to be able to run about 170-200kw, if one day i decide that i want a bit more

a single heavy duty should hold 200rwkw

if you ride it like a whore and launch the crap out of it though, it wont last forever so keep that mind

speak to a few places and compare prices. about 3 years i got a single heavy duty supplied and fitted for an r33 for $1200.

its now at the stage of being replaced and is slipping. its been to a few motorsport days (deca's) and has been to heathcote as well.

Excedy HD for the Evo was about that price. The labour for me was about the same again plus flywheel and AYC Fluid so came to about $1500 all up. Not sure on labour or what is required on skylines so price could vary on that component unless you can install yourself.

I would also shop around as there are a few in workshops that would do this, try the Workshop sticky. :D

I seriously doubt a clutch for that price would hold 300 (kw i'm assuming). As Paul Said I would not use one of those clutches for anything other than a street car with 210kw or less.

If your gonna go much above that power levlel, or will be using the car for any motorsport invest in a tougher clutch (Jim Berry, Nismo, Os Giken) as if you dont you will fry you cheapy and will need to buy the more expensive one later anyway.

Buy the price seems about right for a cheap HD clutch.

just ask a few workshops what they use and recommend

ive heard of a few "single" cheap $400 clutches that suit upto 300rwkw only they slip at 200rwkw

so just double check and ask questions - you cant go wrong

that price sounds fairly decent to me.... if not very good!! i payed 900 for my hd clutch on rb20det vl.... flywheel needed alot of grinding.. said it would hold 240rwkw... its done well so far.... thank god your not going for a button clutch. 1800 plus fitting on the gtr :D

Yeh i looked through there and called a couple places, only i cant take the car to far as i will be towing it with my brother

i got quoted from another place that use daiken and exedy HD, 900 for the HD

Cluthes are really doing my head in, the cars being sitting in my driveway for over a month... i miss it

im thinking of just goin to creatd and geting it done,

unless anyone can recommend i get the slid HD instead??

Try Marz a fellow member in this forum.I bought a excedy HD clutch off him 2 yrs back and still running up to this day. Daily driven car a few hard launch here and there so they are quite good.

It cost me about $800 from what i can remeber HD clutch is $400. Installation and labour around $400.

I not sure if he still use this number 0405101901

There was a forum on this... AAhhhh here its is

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ex...l&hl=clutch

I've had the 240 HD in my car for ages now...~250rwkw and still going, hasn't slipped once.

Ahhh if I knew this I would have ordered one and taken it to the workshop already, was unsure of its reliability thats all.

I already booked it in for tomorrow morning because I couldnt be bothered piss farting around anymore and I want my car back.

gonna get the HD from the workshop.. will let u guys know how it goes

sounds like a pretty decent clutch u've got dezz

mlyf16 thanks for the info but like i said i cant be botthered anymore and its already booked anyway

thanks guys

    • Hi soviet_merlin, We appreciate your concern regarding this possibly being some sort of PR/Political hype, I assure you that is not the case, I wish we could claim something like that, but in this case, we merely reached out for comment on the basis of the outrage we too felt, as those heavily in the automotive industry. Ps. the original source in the social media post is CarExpert not CarExplore.    Best, CE.
    • Made a bit of a discovery, but while I was cruising, I randomly decided to test to see if it worked and it showed up on my IC7. The entire time I tested it before, I never thought to turn the ignition on. I only tested it with head lights turned on but with the ignition off. Huge oversight on my end. I’m a dummy. I know.
    • G'day all, I have drilled and tapped the hole for the relocation of the timing belt tensioner. That was straight forward. I'm unsure if I need to also put another hole for the smaller stud that the spring behind the tensioner catches on (this is how it seems to work in its original spot). Or do you not use the spring behind it and just torque it down? Thanks in advance, I did a search but couldn't find anything related and it doesn't mention it in the rb30det sau guide.
    • Hi All,  just thought I would provide an update as I know smooth (Matt) was on this forum from 2003.    my brother Matthew passed away end of may 2024 at the age of 41 from liver failure. I am not sure how many of his original team krazy friends are still on here or active but thought it reasonable to let the forum know.    if you have any photos or pictures it would be great if you could share them.    it took me a while to work out he was active on here.    thanks so much
