I had a big fuel economy thread a while back plenty of info in it.

In summary

90% city driving I get btwn 320-400 depnding on how i drive the thing using about 60L of fuel. You can go well past the E line and then go for another 20-30kms when the light comes on.

I found the best economy to be on BP ultimate. Probably cause thats what the car was tuned on.

If your car is in good mechanical condition (02 sensor working, fresh fuel filter, good plugs and coild) then the maion things that will affect your economy are

1. City/Freeway driving

2. Lead foot or driving Miss Daisy

3. The tune

I found the biggest factor was my driving, and the fact i do 90% inner city driving.

I originally used caltex vortex until I was told it is actually only 96 RON! I then changed to Shell V-Power and noticed a difference in power and economy. Have never used BP ultimate (4c thing) but heard good about it. I get 430 - 450 kms down to empty (roughly 45 - 47ltrs) out of my R32 RB20DET 4-Door and thats only giving it the occational squirt as I drive it daily and need to save $$ and demerit points (one left due to two 80 in 60 zone busts in one week :D ) Only had it a year now and really impressed with the economy verses power ratio, big thumbs up to nissan!!

There are two different Vortex's, dark green 96 and white/gold 98 [bowser colours].

What so there is a fuel warning light, shit what a noob i didn't even know ive never seen it come on. Maybe i should do a Kramer off seinfield, but i will bring a jerry can when i run out.

In SA there is only one.. Its red at the bowser and 98 and does it for me! With the GTR gettin 400 out of 3/4 tank, that sounds wicked but I also found the last 1/4 goes real quick!

hahaha

My little rb20det last year with a catback and pod filter never got 300km to about 55L fill ups with allot of throttle. But i cleaned my MAF and O2 sensour this year so when i get my new fuel pump and my car will start i guess i'll see what proper milage looks like when i break in my clutch and cant give it a shat-beating every day.
