Gday everyone, this is my 1st post.

im seriously thinking of getting a R33 GTR.

What would be needed to get the car into the 11-10's 1/4mile ?

I have a very lame knowedge of skylines and have been a holden fan. Currently owning a VXSS tricked up and it runs a 12.2 on streets. but being 22 i need more. i want to see 11 to 10's and its getting time to sell the VXSS.

How much money would need to be spend on the GTR to see 11's ?

and whats a good imported R33 GT-R worth ? im guessing around 45?

any help would be AWSOME !!

thanks

MELV

A guy on this forum has a R33 gtr running ~10.4sec 1/4 miles

Name is Leewah, give him a PM and ask about the cost. My guess is about another $25-30k after purchasing the car. This would be a quality job that is still drivable

the r33 gtst that they use is up for sale for $40 000 something i think which seems like a lot cheaper way to do it to me, they also said that the car is capable of alot more but there not touching it cause its for sale its 400hp at the wheels its suppost to be the fast 2.5 in the country at the time

if you dont get much out of them try tony rigolies work shop i dont know where they are but the deal with some serious cars and they have a shop in sydney and on the goldy they have an r33 gtst that there trying to get 600hp at the wheels out of with similar upgrades good luck

400hp at the wheels is what I've got now with the NOS kit.

Well with a GTR you first have to decide what target you want. Do you want 11's, or do you want 10's

There is a HUGE difference and cost between the two.

Also a GTS-T is NOT a GTR, so dont compare the two....anybody.

its like saying "my mate bought a torana and did it up for a full cost of $50,000 and it ran 9's", and you spend 50k on a GTR and you get a clean stockish GTR.

If you want a clean GTR, a friend is selling his 33. Pm Leewah, or SIRVROOM.

    • You Gregged a whole racetrack!?
    • Look for broken wire or bad connector at the motor. Might not be it, but is worth starting there, as it is easy.
    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
